  1. I'm in the "liquid in - LIQUID out" phase right now. I had surgery on Monday and it started on Thurs - right when I switched to full liquids. At first I though it was because I had a few glasses of apple juice during clear liquids but it's continued. And it's been BAD. My doc said I could take a little Imodium AD, which has helped a lot. I was kind of worried about getting dehydrated because I haven't yet gotten in my 64ozs of water a day. Today I got up over 50ozs and discovered PROPEL by the makers of Gatorade. I think I should be good from here on out - my tummy has just been so bloated that drinking so much water has been hard!!
  2. I have to do liquids for 2 weeks. I have a follow up appointment on 9/10/07 and I'm assuming at that point I will get the go-ahead to start mushies. Then I have to do mushies for 3 weeks. Then I can switch to more solid food - nothing too crazy though - for 1 week. That should put me at 6 weeks. If I do ok after a week of "solids" I can get my first fill. My doc said baby food was ok but sometimes the carbs and calories tend to be high. That's funny you bought some stiff today because I bought some stuff for mushies today too - lol! I'm READY!! I bought some tuna, canned chicken, and refried beans. We went to Walmart so I grabbed a few non-perishables. The biggest thing I have been craving is egg salad and I'm not even a big egg fan - lol! Also cottage cheese!! PS. I am allowed pudding - the kind you make at home with a little extra milk to thin it and yogurt with no fruit chunks in it. So far, so good.
  3. Hey Shelli As usual, we seem to be in exactly the same place - lol. I finally lost all the extra Fluid now too. As of this morning, I am down exactly 20 lbs since I started the pre-op diet. Woo-Hoo!! I’ve been getting that bloated feeling too. Lots of burping too. After I "eat" I try and walk around for about 5-10 minutes - it seems to help. My daily goals are: 650 calories, 70 grams Protein, < 80 carbs I've been having 2 protein shakes, 5-6ozs soup, a yogurt or pudding, and Jello or ice pops. I haven't had any fruit juice for 2 days because I think it's contributing to the awful diarrhea I've been having. I did discover a new drink I really like though - PROPEL, it's made by Gatorade. I just started an antibiotic yesterday because my throat never got any better. I've been really pushing to get in as many fluids as possible.
  4. I also found I have sleep Appnea during pre-op testing and now have a CPAP machine. I never use it though. I was instructed to bring it with me to the hospital for surgery ... it never came out of the bag.
  5. Maybe you could try some of that drink they give to little kids when they are sick and dehydrated .... pedalight.
  6. Judy- I don't think I've had any spasms - I have been burping A LOT!! I was on Clear liquids until today. Today I had 1/2 10oz Soup, 2 x 8 oz Protein shakes, and 1/2 6oz yogurt. What are you eating already?
  7. I weighed myself for the first time yesterday and I was up 4 lbs :tired Part of the bloat might be the gas - my tummy still feels pretty hard. I also suggest calling your doctor. Maybe breath in a little rubbing alcohol - that seems to work for me. I too was VERY nauseous the whole night after surgery. I threw up once and had many dry heaves - luckily that subsided before I went home on Tues. My doctor didn't seem concerned about my band placement - don't worry!
  8. My doctor gave me a script for Vicodin as well. I was surprised - I was expecting a liquid pain killer. Luckily, I've been ok with just Tylenol because I think I'd be too scared to take them. The pharmacist advised not crushing them either.
  9. I haven't had that problem with deep breaths but my tummy is still very hard. Feels like I'm pregnant! I can't really tell if the Gas X is helping but I've been taking it. I have a spot under my port site that is forming a nice yellow bruise and today started looking a little red. It also feels warm to the touch - I don't have a fever though so I'm just going to watch it for now. I feel like such a hypochondriac - lol!! I'm trying to work on getting in enough liquids - I've only been averaging about 36ozs and I know I need to do better.
  10. Yes, I was noticing this morning that I have some bruises coming out as well. Mostly around the port site. They are a little yellow right now.
  11. I hope everyone is doing well. I had my surgery at 4pm on Monday. Everything went very smoothly. I didn't sleep very much that first night in the hospital. I was extremely nauseous. I threw up once and had the dry heaves many times. My doctor didn't seem all that concerned about it and my x-ray and barium swallow showed everything was fine - of course I'm still worrying about it - lol! I haven't had any pain really - I've only taken Tylenol since I came home on Tues afternoon. I did take some Nyquil last night to help me sleep - that's been my biggest problem - I just can't get comfortable at night. (I usually sleep on my stomach) Luckily my gas pain hasn't been too bad either - I had a lot yesterday but seem to be ok today. Mostly burping - which doesn't feel so good. Taking a shower yesterday was like heaven!!! I started back to full liquids today - my tummy has been grumbling. Who knew I'd be happy to have Soup again?! lol
  12. I'm so happy to share this date with all of you. I'm hoping it will be a memorable and positive anniversary to Celebrate each year!! I look forward to comparing notes in the coming weeks and months! Good luck to everyone. I am envious you all have such early surgery times. I'm going to a nervous wreck all day tomorrow! 2:30pm seems like eons away!
  13. I hear you on that - I'm sure it's everyone's biggest concern. I know it's been mine! I'm so happy for you that you got insurance to pay!! I've got everything done ... I guess all we can do now it wait ...
  14. I just counted and there are TEN of us on the list!!! :whoo: Tomorrow = Clear liquids I'm not nervous either - just ready to get this overwith!! My surgery isn't until 2:30pm :tired
  15. I'm going into day 11 - using Protein shakes as well. (same calories but a ton more protein than slim fast!) Maybe you could blend some fruit in with the slimfast? A few frozens stawberries or 1/4 banana. (that's what I've been doing with my choc shakes) A tablespoon of instant coffee or cinnamon or sugar free Peanut Butter works too. Something to change the taste might help you keep interest in them. Hang in there!!!
  16. Awesome!!! ONEderland!:clap2:
  17. Clear liquids: -Juice* (I bought apple and white grape) -Jello* -Broth -Ice pops * Not sugar free - for some calories I also bought these whey protein test tube drinks at the health food store. I think it's like 4oz - 175 calories and 42 grams of protein. They had a bunch of flavors - I got orange and raspberry. I'm going to try one tomorrow for some protein. Still no change in my throat. It feels like there's cotton or something back there. It's good that you did all those things around the house! Now while you are resting for a week, you'll be in a clean house. (like when you clean before you go away on vacation!) We did a lot today too - some last minute shopping, laundry, gave the dog a bath, worked in the yard, etc. Tomorrow I plan to clean the house, wash the bedding, rent some DVD's, and load up the ipod with new stuff. Hang in there ladies - we're in the home stretch!!
  18. Thanks<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p I just ran to CVS and the pharmacist said Sudafed was ok. She said all the dairy may have given me post nasal drip and recommended something. *fingers crossed*<O:p</O:p
  19. Can I take that 2 days before surgery?
  20. Pretty much everything is covered in this thread, I just wanted to say good luck! My date is Monday too. A few additional things I'm doing this weekend: Rent a bunch of movies (5 day rentals) Shave my legs Paint my toe nails Load up the ipod Clean the house (My boyfriend is over my shoulder and he says to add "have lots of sex" - lol!!)<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  21. Throat is still feeling weird today - anyone had or know of someone having an allergic reaction to milk (out of the blue) and/or Protein shakes? I'm using the whey Protein powder
  22. Yes - very emotional! :heh: The doctor's office left a message on my answering machine on Wed (even though they have it in their file to always call me on my cell!) I never get those home messages because that's pretty much just my boyfriend's phone and I always use my cell. I got the message late that night and freaked out all night that there was something wrong with my PST. I cried and yelled at my bf for not checking the messages earlier *blush* - I have no idea how he's been putting up with me. He's really one of a kind! I'm freaking out a little right now too. My mouth has been feeling real chalky and my throat has been feeling weird. It doesn't hurt but it feels like something is stuck - especially when I lay down. And now I think it's getting irritated because I keep coughing to try and "scratch" it. My sister is a nurse and said it sounded like I had thrush. I went to my PCP on Fri just to make sure everything was ok and she said it looked fine. No swelling, discoloration, and no fever. Additionally, I feel fine. Maybe I'm having a reaction to all the milk (I never drink milk) and or the whey Protein? I dunno .... I'm just really uncomfortable and worried about having throat issues right now. This is the last thing I want right before this type of surgery ... I'm not drinking any milk or Protein shakes today - and tomorrow is Clear liquids anyway. We'll see how it feels on Monday. Only 2 more sleeps …:whoo:
  23. Ugh! I had to do the stress test for cardiac clearance. They injected me with that stuff instead of walking on the treadmill too. (I'm not really sure why) It sucked! Like you, it took forever! I went in at noon and didn't leave until 5:00pm - with nothing to eat all day! That stuff aka posion, they injected made my heart race, I felt really light headed and got a horrible headache. I went home and sleep for like 5 hours. I woke up at about 1am and was up for the whole night - lol!!!
  24. I like the Unjury Choc with a few frozen strawberries.
