  1. I think there must be a salt craving going around.....all I want is a grilled cheese and dill pickle. And I don't even really like dill pickles
  2. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Eggface Rocks!! She has a ton of recipes
  3. sparkpeople.com has a recipe calculator as well
  4. I think the alpine punch is the best.......I bought some peach mango and they are disgusting......I have to put a ton of crystal light in them just to choke them down.
  5. Day 8 post-op and I just realized last night that it wasn't every single sip anymore! Yay! But I think it has so much to do with your stomach healing, in my case the Hiatal (sp) Hernia repair, and the tubes being stuffed into places they had never been before. Water-yes, Protein shakes-yes, but I also likes my grape and apple juice I think it started to fade after like day 5 or 6....and now I just get the occasional twinge.
  6. I have a V8 Brand of Cream of Broccoli soup yesterday and it was amazing
  7. I want a costco in the Saginaw area lol And hey there all.....was sleeved on 3/28 and so far so good....feeling better each and every day .
  8. March 28th with Dr. Fourman in Midland MI......getting pretty excited! But only lost 9lbs so far on pre-surgery diet, but its 9lbs I don't have anymore
  9. my surgeon told me I could do lapband or sleeve, my choice right up until the day of surgery. He also told me that 1 in 4 people have to have their band removed, and that if you have a BMI of 35 and need to lose 50 pounds that was the way to go. With my BMI of 42 and having 100 lbs to lose, I consider my sleeve to be the best choice for me.
  10. So, my pre-op diet goes like this..... 1c. carnation instant Breakfast without sugar in skim milk 1/2 c unsweetened applesauce 1 whey Protein shake 1/2 c. sugar-free Jello 1c. V8 or can substitute 1/2c cooked veggie or 1 c raw veggies 1/2 sugar-free fat-free pudding 1 whey Protein Shake 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce 1c. carnation instant breakfast without sugar in skim milk or protein shake 1/2c sugar-free ff pudding I want to ask the nutritionist if they make Protein shakes in potato chip flavor because I am not a sweet-treat eater What is with all the sweet crap? I want something that is more like food! Have I cheated a little I have coffee in the mornings, my surgeon has said it would be ok. I have substituted small apples for the applesauce, and I have had 1/2 c of fat free cottage cheese twice now and I've had a few black olives. I'm on day 7, my surgery is on Monday, I've lost 9 lbs........haven't lost any in 2 days probably because I've cheated. If my surgeon were as strict as some I'm sure I would be screwed......I know the "sample" the nutritionist gave me is just a sample, put seriously......what can you eat that doesn't have fat, carbs, or sugar? I think I will spend the weekend being exceptionally good for Monday Protein shakes and crystal light here I come!
  11. My family surprised me when I told them.....I was hesitant to at first, but there really isn't any way around it. If you spend any amount of time with them, they are going to have to know, so why not give them the opportunity to support you? As I said, I was surprised by the response. My mom asked what I needed, my brother and 1 sister replied that it wouldn't be their first choice but I should do whatever I have to do, and my other sister (the only one that has also struggled with weight) I think has more curiosity than anything. She was able to lose her excess weight with extreme, dr. assisted dieting (i.e. making your own ketchup and other things) while getting Vitamin shots and starting over on the exercise thing. And good for her......she maintained it for almost a year before re-gaining 20lbs, but I could be happy if I was able to live with 20 extra lbs. Anyway, if your family is anything like mine, you won't be able to attend any type of family function that doesn't include food......and how will you explain the weight-loss? I know my family would have decided I was ill and dragged me kicking and screaming to whatever dr. they decided could treat me....lol This is going to be great, however it works out. Everything happens for a reason, we just don't always see what it is right away.
  12. My PCP also called me and scheduled an appointment after I sent the request for the letter of support. I had never been under a physician's care for weight loss so I was sure he would try and talk me out of it. Also, I have 2 friends that also have him for a PCP that he had pretty much told them that the surgery probably would not work for them. I had even told the nurse on the phone that if he was going to try and talk me out of it, my insurance did not require the letter and I didn't want to come in an listen...lol The nurse said she didn't think that was the issue so I went......and guess what? He was VERY supportive! He told me that this should be a good tool for me and that he was sure I would succeed with my weight loss. I think he just wanted to talk to me a bit and make sure I was informed and making the decision for surgery for all the right reasons and not expecting it to be a "miracle cure" or "immediate fix" to a life-long problem.
  13. I agree with the above.........I have not had my surgery yet, but belong to sparkpeople.com and there are local groups close to me out here in nowheresville................... I also joined a divorce support group when I was going through my divorce, it was and still is amazing. The people are so very supportive, non-judgmental, and have all been there, done that
  14. I'm not looking forward to this, but figure I can do anything for 10 days......we will see. The surgeon explained that the purpose of this diet is to limit carbs/sugars as they are stored in the liver and he needs the liver to shrink enough to get good access for the surgery. I just want to be scheduled so I can make a plan Good Luck to you, you can do it.
