Oregondaisy, that is so true! I've recently gone back to low carb and upped my exercise (well, started since I wasn't doing much! lol) and trying to SLOWLY re-lose the 13 lbs I've regained after maintenance a year ago. So far, I've lost 6 of them but NOT easily. If I change from this for ANYTHING, my weight goes up. My body LIKES where it's at! I read that your body has to be at a certain weight for at least 6-12 months before it really stays there. I obviously didn't heed that warning a year ago. So now I'm paying the piper, so to speak! Once I get back to my goal weight and below hopefully, gonna do my dead level best to accomplish that weight stabilization. Also, just thought you would like to know - once I cut back on the carbs (slider foods, sweets, etc) my dumping has virtually disappeared. Wow! Girl, WE CAN DO THIS!

July 4Th Challenge
Okay, BOY, is it sooo easy to up the lbs! Had to go "spur of the moment" to Louisiana for a funeral. Had a great ONE DAY and ONE NIGHT with old friends, catch up etc. Didn't really eat truly bad - had a few more carbs than I have been eating (low carb) and less than a half a piece of cake. One meal at a Mexican restaurant where I ate ONE puffed taco, no rice, no beans. Came home - next day up 3 lbs! Sad! So my hard-earned loss of earlier in the week - poof! lol I got right back on the horse and exercised by riding 3 miles on my bike last night and low carb today. It's just really amazing to me that now over two years out my body reacts so quickly to ANY change and I have to watch everything that goes in to keep from regaining. Something I didn't anticipate.

Wow! That is awesome! And if you are two pounds you ARE normal! At least every normal Person I know wants to lose. "couple of pounds"! Lol.- Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Lisalu, I would be shouting if I weighed in at 124! lol But I would also be emaciated probably since I am 5'8" and rather large framed. I know exactly what you mean about regain - Hit goal of 150 and did well for several months of maintenance (2 years out June 4th) and then picked up the habit of junk "slider" foods. Now, have lost 7 of 12 lbs regained! And brother, it has been a REAL STRUGGLE! It definitely does not want to come off again and my body wants to hang on to EVERY POUND!! Once I get back to original goal, I know I will have to continue to watch carbs and up my exercise to be able to keep it off! No easy ride anymore!!!!! lol- July 4Th Challenge
Checking in - lost 2 more pounds as of this morning - making 7 lost of RE-GAIN. So, only 3 more to original 10 lb goal for July 4. I just hope they are STILL gone tomorrow morning!!! At this stage (2 years out), it seems if I don't REALLY REALLY REALLY watch every carb, my body wants to gain! But increasing my exercise has definitely made the difference. Once I get back to original goal, I think I will be able to maintain AGAIN with the exercise I have made myself increase plus not as much snacking!!!!!- Prayers Are Needed
By His stripes we are healed.. Praying complete healing for both of you! In Jesus Name!- Where are the 50s ???
I agree Totallly Queen of Crop. I had no problem reaching goal easily and quickly eating pretty much what I wanted, when I wanted. Unfortunately, after hitting about a year and half started adding back in too many "slider" foods and snacks. (smile) So now I am trying to regain goal - I've found (and documented studies) that once your body reaches a certain point and it STAYS there for a few months, it likes it!! REALLY WELL! lol So it doesn't want to let go of those extra pounds. I also started experiencing periods of extremely low blood sugar caused by my little stomach digesting the carbs eaten too quickly and since cutting down on carbs, that has stabilized. I agree with the NORMAL part. Just want to THINK like one too!!!!!- Where are the 50s ???
One of the reasons a low carb diet works is that protein and fat satisfy your hunger. When you eat protein, you do not crave more protein. If you had a huge plate of chicken, you would not continue to eat it after you had enough. You would eat a certain amount and then you wouldn't want to eat any more. You don't need a cheering section to keep you from eating any more. You're done. You're satisfied. With carbs, you can never get enough. You can be full, topped off, completely stuffed, and you could still go more! Eating carbs makes you crave more carbs. Limiting carbs is still difficult, but much easier than eating low fat or low calorie. after awhile, you aren't craving anything at all. And your fat cells steadily release their fuel to be burned. Instead of getting more difficult over time, low carb eating actually gets easier as the lust for carbs subsides. Once you reach your goal weight; you should first add fruit, then whole wheat while continuing to monitor your weight. The low carb way can be a way of life. Insulin has three effects you don't want: 1. Converts sugar in the blood to fat in the cells — tells the body to store all the fat it can while the sugar is available 2. Tells the cells not to burn any fat, since there are plenty of sugar molecules to burn 3. Makes you crave more carbs- Where are the 50s ???

Prayers and thoughts coming your way for a speedy recovery and improved VSG journey!!!- Announcement!
Yaay to you!!!!!!- Syncope, Possible Seizure
Sounds like "dumping syndrome" in the worst form. I experience some of this myself - passed out completely and came to on the floor with a busted lip! Someone on here told me the symptoms and that it was alimentary hypoglycemia. I researched it and it IS possible in some VSG patients even though VSG is tauted as not having this. Since your Blood sugar was extremely low sounds like that - carbs going from stomach to intestine too quickly. I cut WAYYY back on my carbs and upped Protein and no incidences since then. Have your Dr. check it out. Glad you are okay!- 6Weeks Out Pic's
- 199 Lbs!
Yaay to you!! And it only gets better as the number goes down another 10, then another!!!! congrats!- Where are the 50s ???
Okay, what is the deal!!!!! I am REALLY REALLY REALLY craving carbs for the last two days. NOT giving in but it is difficult! lol Been low carbing and high proteining for the last two-three weeks with no difficulty. Lost 6 lbs of re-gain and want to lose another at least another 6 by July 4th. Its not the womanly thing since that ended in 2000 with hysto! lol Can't figure this out. Just took an acide reducer thinking maybe my body is telling my head that I'm hungry or some such poppycock. And I AM exercising more too! Any thoughts?- Where are the 50s ???
Yaay to you!!!!! It will really start coming off now! Congrats!- Where are the 50s ???
Okay, I have to give a shout out for my newest NSV!!!!! I have never been in favor of exercise (my favorite Bible verse is "Bodily exercise profiteth little..." lol - not really!) But, at 2 years out things have to step up to keep my new body/health in check. So I bought a bike and started riding several days a week 2-3 miles and today, I DID A WHOLE 30 MINUTES ON THE ELLIPTICAL! Now, that is BIG for me! ha! Anyway, I have seen a real change just by increasing exercise and lowering carbs. Fight the good fight, 50's!!!! Peace.- July 4Th Challenge
Yaay to everyone. I have lost 4 lbs and HELD it off for about 5 days so I'm happy. Now w/exercise and low carb for the remaining 6 to goal. (July 4)- Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Yes! I didn't think about it being while I was eating more carbs and less protein but it IS! I am 2 years out. I've had several episodes where I would get really shaky, feeling like passing out and check blood sugar. low! One day it was 40!!! That had to be it because I am doing low carb right now and no episodes. Wow! Thanks for the insight. - July 4Th Challenge
