  6. Thank you so much for this post. It helps so much to see in advance what to expect. My surgery is coming up in a month so I am starting to feel a little anxious. Hopefully I will get that under control before I hit the hospital. Please keep us updated! Thanks again, Av
  7. I have used arnica topically in the past but hadn't considered it for this surgery. I found this info though: Side Effects of Arnica Arnica has been seen to be safe when used in diluted or homeopathic doses for a maximum of two weeks under constant supervision of a doctor or health care professional. However, at extremely higher doses, arnica montana can lead to very serious side effects and even death. Possible side effects of high arnica dosage include stomach discomfort, nausea and vomiting, as well as liver and kidney damage and organ failure. Skin rashes, lesions of the mouth and eczema might occur in some people as a result of allergies. Topical arnica should never be used on open wounds or anywhere near the eyes and mouth. There have also been reported cases of mouth ulcers caused by arnica-containing mouthwash. Other less probable side effects of increased arnica doses taken orally include irregular heart rhythm, high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat and heat failure. Theoretically, arnica can increase the possibility of bleeding. If you have a history of diabetes or have used anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs, always consult a doctor before taking arnica, even at homeopathic doses. Arnica and Surgery Several research studies have suggested that homeopathic doses of arnica can relieve pain after surgery. It has also been seen to reduce hematoma and bruising after surgery and promotes faster post-operative recovery.

  16. I really enjoy the Vitamin Water Zero (has a few carbs) and if you have a Costco close by try the Kirkland brand Vita Rain( <1 carb/0 cals). The both are really yummy... the Kirkland is a lot less expensive. Good luck

  18. While I haven't had my surgery yet this is the official reason you shouldn't drink while you eat. "The reason why this is a rule is because we do not want you to liquefy the food as you are eating it. Do not wash the sludge down the sink hole. We want you to stop drinking about 15 minutes before your meal ? to make sure the sink is empty of Water before putting food in it. Once you start eating, no drinking with your meal ? do not liquefy the food you are eating. You will be able to eat more, and you will be hungry sooner if you are drinking while eating. Never put a glass of any liquid next to your meal ? the habit to eat and drink at the same time is very strong. You may not realize that you are even doing it until it is too late. We also do not want you to drink for at least 90 minutes after your meal. Do not help mother nature ? your pouch can liquefy the food on its own without your help. Your pouch will take longer on its own, thus giving you prolonged satisfaction and hunger control." From ?THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED BARIATRIC SURGERY ? 19. Myths about getting enough protein. Good one.
  20. Sorry... don't mean to sound dense. Main entrance inside the mall or outside?
  21. I am hoping to get a June date... have done 2 of 3 nutritionist appts., my psych. eval, and my seminar. I was eating everything in sight... my attitude was I might as well enjoy this... I may never get it again. Well the seminar was the changing point for me... dh went with me and suggested we start tracking our food (he isn't overweight, but very supportive). I downloaded an ap for my Iphone, Fat Secret Calorie Counter, and began. I promised myself that I would track everything, no matter how bad it was. Just the accountability of putting it down has been life changing. I have stopped eating everything in sight and have actually lost a few pounds. I recommend just keeping track.. record everything that goes in your mouth. It seems to help. :thumbup1:
