Post operative care with Dr. Coburn

Congratulations, it looks like you've done very well at losing weight and I'm sure you don't regret getting your band. A surgeon is there for people who either need the surgery or have health concerns or emergencies resulting from the band. Quite often after most surgical procedures, nurses are the ones who are there for the patients. If you do have problems there is no doubt that he would be there for you. I'm sure Dr. C wants all his patients to be given the best care so he has staff and nurses to help him keep in touch with his patients. He recently came all the way out west to train my doctor to do fills and gave me and a few others a fill free of charge. He also gave free consults to anyone who wanted information on the lap band surgery so I know how dedicated he is to helping people before and after. I suppose you may want to think about what it is that you need to do to feel better about this and most of all celebrate this new you. Losing this weight is not all from the band, so be proud of your success and focus on the here and now. Don't be too hard on the doc, he's probably just like all of us, just doing his best.

    Good Luck Dame J

Big Congrats Dame. I was banded on Wednesday. Dr. C and staff were great and felt very safe. BUT - just before I went under I thought "what the hell am I doing?" And when I woke up, I thought "OMG what have I done to myself - maybe they should take it out right now!" Felt weird for 2 days about my new little "alien" in there-but now, it is my little "ET friend". I feel so excited. Gas shoulder, neck and side pains were a PAIN, but over it now and just a little discomfort here and there. Your feelings of being a bit down are absolutely normal, cause I really had them too. Then I thought " hhhmmnn -shopping-clothes-look good-summer coming- less sweating-feeling like a big damp clam". This is a beautiful thing we have done and I am proud of myself and thankful for this supportive forum. Let the fun begin and the shopping start! Flabuless!:clap2:

    Optifasters

I've finished one week on optifast and I really miss food. I haven't cheated though. I add coconut, banana, or orange artificial extract to my shakes. Mixed with ice in the bullet helps and the artificial extrac helps with the initial taste. I can taste optifast even when I haven't had one for hours so I'll try chewing gum.

    Optifasters

This is day one for me and 13 to go. I guess I'm feeling pretty lucky that there are only 13 left - not 20. Cheers to you susannah or anyone else who's doing 3 weeks! I'm using a magic bullet to mix my drinks with lots of ice. It gets really smooth like a milk shake. Optifast is not as horrid as I'd imagined but I still gulp it down as quickly as possible and try not to breath in through my nose. Try sugar-free jello puddings in the blender if you like pudding. My favorite meal is the veggies.

    Awesome Support

Hi guys, I'm new to this site. Just thought I'd join in since I'm starting optifast Jan 24 too. Won't it be nice to know there will be a little gang of us? Getting banded Feb 7 with Dr. Coburn. I think I will have my optifast in big glasses with little umbrellas and feed my family eveything I hate for two weeks.(joking ofcourse) I really like to remember that it is temporary though because after optifast comes clear liquids and yummy mushy food. How tasty! Good luck to all of us and maybe we can gain stenth from each other.

    This Website Is Fake!!!

Seriously, if a person was to inform themselves about lap band surgery do you think this nonsense would be their only source. Also, I highly doubt they would develop some strange fears from that. Come on don't give that @**%*^ so much credibility.

Highly offended by the ladies of "The View"

Is there an easy way out from a heart attack, stroke or diabetes? Hmmm? No, I think not. I think we are all people who want a better quality of life so comments like that don't ruffle my feathers one bit. Being proactive and educated in our decisions is what this is all about. It's only natural to feel sensitive or insulted but consider the source and don't justify it with a response. A big cheer for all people who do something good for themselves that dosen't hurt anyone else - no matter what it is.

    This Website Is Fake!!!

I think it's supposed to be some pathetic person's idea of a joke and regardless of how anyone feels about it WHO on earth would base their decision of whether or not they would get the lapband surgery done from that. I mean really, would someone have to be born yesterday to know that no man who actually loved (or even didn't love) his wife would post such ludacris photos of her. Please!
