  1. Hi , and thank you ,I completely agree with your post.I do not think Quebecers are lazy either( and I am one of them)!! I am not banded yet but am on a waiting list. The reason I chose the lap band is because it is reversible.I personally know of one person who has had the lapband and she is working hard on her weight loss journey! Take care, Sue
  2. Congrats and WOW, very inspiring. I am not banded yet but cannot wait to see results like yours.Thank you for posting your pictures! Sue
  3. .... Glad to hear you are feeling better!! You are so right, we need to speak up when we think there is something wrong, and yes dehydration is dangerous. Take care of yourself and I hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly!! I have not been banded yet, am on the waiting list,so hopefully within the next 6-9 months I will have my surgery!!
  4. it is covered by medicare as far as I know. that is why the wait is so long. I had initially made an appointment with a dr. Miller in private and it was going to cost 16,000. on the web site I can't remember what the wait time was but it was not very long at all.Mind you things could have changed as that was 6 months ago. I liked him Dr. Jette that is, he is very to the point and does not beat around the bush. I had not heard that he is rude. I had heard he was a very good surgeon!
  5. Hi, I'm not banded yet, but am now on the waiting list for Pierre Boucher Hospital. I had my appointment with Dr. Pierre Jette on April 13th and he said I was a candidate!! What a relief. So now it is a waiting game. If I remember right he said it was a 9-12 month wait, but that is ok, now that I know I am a candidate. There is a newer Doctor there a Dr. Chagnon( I think that is how you spell it) supposedly the wait is not as long for him. There is also a Dr. Leclerc at chum( Notre Dame hosp). In private it costs about $16,000 and up. Good luck with your search, I did not have to wait too long for my appointment with Dr. Jette about 3 months. Sue
  6. CONGRATS!!!!!......must have felt great to do that!! Keep up the good work!! Sue
  7. Hi Juliana1, I am not banded yet ,but just want to congratulate you on your success! Keep up the good work! Sue
  8. quote name='Mollyjolie' timestamp='1301794966' post='1595027'] Hello Juliana1, I was banded this past March. So far, I lost about 10 lbs. My first fill is on April 20th. Happy I won't be alone. Mollyjolie Hi Mollyjoie, Congratulations on your band. Who was your doctor and where did you have it done. I have an appointment on the 13th of April, and hopefully I will be a candidate. My GP has his doubts!! Hopefully he is wrong. Sue
  9. WOW,totally impressive!!! I hope I am as successful as you have been. I go in about 2 weeks to see if I am a candidate. I truly hope so. I have been reading a bunch of different posts, some positive and so negative. I would like to lose about 75 lbs and hope to do so with the help of the band. Keep up the good work, and give yourself a pat on the back for a fantastic weightloss journey! Sue
  10. Hi, way to go,down 14 lbs already, Encouraging!!I have been reading different posts , some are downright scary. Others are very encouraging. I go see Dr. Jette on the 13th of this month. I can't wait!! Who was your doctor? Keep up the fantastic work, have a great day. Sue
  11. wow, you are doing really well. I am really hoping to be accepted as a candidate, I can't wait for my appointment. Have you had any fills yet? any problems? Keep up the good work! Sue
  12. Sounds like we have a lot in common, I think I have tried just about all the diets out there too. I manage to lose some and then gain it back, plus a few extra pounds. My last attempt was weight watchers last year, I lost 25 of the many lbs I need to lose, but I have since gained them all back . I'm sure within a 6 month period. I have an appointment with a bariatric surgeon in April. I so hope I am a candidate. I have failed so many times , it is kind of scary. I have been reading and reading the different posts. I know this is right for me.I can't wait. I realize it will not be easy, but I am so ready to lose the weight once and for all. Good luck.
  13. Hi, I too am new here. After many years of yo-yo dieting and dieting up to my current weight of 250 lbs. I have decided to go with the lapband. I see the surgeon in April. I was wondering if anyone has had surgery in Montreal? Did you go with the public system or private? Sue
