If I could have stuck to an eating plan and exercised I would not have needed the band. By the time I recieved the band, I have exhausted all my weight loss means. The band was false hope. I'm so glad to hear the band has worked for so many. Yet, I'd bet my life, more people failed than succeeded. I'd like to see some follow up studies. I congratulate all you who have lost the weight! I'm happy you found something that worked for you.

It's been two years since my lapband and I weigh more than when I started. After my surgery, I joined a support group and wondered why I was the only lapband person in attendance. After 6 months, I lost 30 lbs and then hit a plateau for about 5 months and then I moved. I slowly started gaining weight back. Afterward, I met several other folks who had the same issue. Now, I tell people the truth about the lapband. Please do your research before paying for this costly procedure! After hearing the horror stories from bypass folks, I wouldn't recommend that either. The only true and healthy way to loss weight is healthy eating in moderation and exercise. No matter how you try and get around it, that's the fact!

  8. Thank you, I'll try that tomorrow. Today, I cut down on the Protein drinks and no sugar-free jello! Forgot that anything with nutrasweet tears me up. I have bloating now, but not as bad as yesterday. These first few days are rough. I've been reading that it only gets better, looking forward to that!

  11. Hello everyone, I was banded at Eglin AFB in FL by Dr. Michel on 2/22/2011. My insurance, TriCare covered the entire procedure. My surgical experience was great, no problems. My starting weight is 245 lbs and I'm hoping to loose 100 lbs. I'm so thankful to have this procedure after years of yo-yo dieting. I have sleep apnea and headed towards diabeties. Right now, I feel like crap...bloating and nausea....glad to have read this is short term. This web site has been very helpful. I've also joined a local support group which meets once a month. Looking forward to blogging with you all.
  12. Thank you everyone for your posts, my doctor failed to warn me about the bloating. I'm 2 days post-op and feel better and less scared after reading your blogs. Thank you!
