  1. What are you dipping in your hummus in the pureed stage?
  2. I can't crush my pills anymore, I just can't! It's actually giving me anxiety because I dread it so much. I can't do it when so many others are swallowing pills right out of surgery. I questioned the surgeon's office today why they had a 4 month rule when so many other doctors don't. "Oh no. We don't do that here. It could get stuck in your pouch." I don't have a pouch!!!!!!!!
  3. Thank you for posting this and for all of the replies. I am 9 days out and feeling frustrated. I have to remember PATIENCE!!!
  4. I am about to break doctor's rules and cut my meds into little pieces. I can't take this anymore!!!!
  5. 1 week post. Getting protein in with Premiere shakes. Water is another story. Nut wants 3 water bottles. I can get about 1.5 water bottles. I'm also eating SF Popsicles. Water is the first ingredient in my protein shake. Do the Popsicles and shakes count towards my water intake?
  6. What equipment are y'all using for pureeing? Will a typical blender do?
  7. Hahaha! Love it!
  8. I am one week post op, and am still struggling with having to crush my pills. My doctor's office says I have to do this for four months!!!! Crazy! Anybody have a favorite food/drink they like best for mixing in their crushed pills? So far I've tried Jello, pudding, Soup, yogurt, and Protein shakes. Maybe I just have to deal with it and choke it down twice a day. I dread medication time!!!
  9. I was told to avoid caffeine because it can be dehydrating. I'm not sure if I can have it again or not. I know many, many bariatric patients eventually have caffeine, my husband included.
  10. Woah! Who knew that a quick trip to Costco could be so physically exhausting? 1 week post op and thought I was feeling great, and then we ventured out today (not my first venture since surgery). Whew! Glad I have one more week off work!!!
  11. My doc said no carbonation forever, as well. Hubby had VSG about 4 years ago. He thinks carbonation has expanded his stomach. He told me if I follow any rule I need to follow the no carbonation rule.
  12. I am on post op day 5, and today I finally don't feel hungry. If I feel like eating, I sip Water or Crystal Light or my Protein shakes. I finally feel like I'm getting a system down. Meds are still gross to crush, but I am tolerating them better. I really do miss chewing!!!! Ha ha! Now I just have to wrap my mind around the exercise.
  13. What's your favorite thing to eat in the puree stage? The idea of pureeing meat sounds disgusting.
  14. Do you guys seriously puree your meat? That just sounds disgusting!!!!
  15. I am 4 days post op and feeling the same way!!!! So frustrating! !!!
  16. Today is post op day 4. Today I am having food cravings and feel like my hunger is not satisfied. I want pizza. I want garlic bread! Surprsingly, I don't want my typical cravings like chocolate and frosting and ice cream. I am allowed to eat three 2 oz "meals" a day plus protein shakes. Fill in with jello, water, broth, sugar free Italian ice. When my husband went through this 4 years ago he didn't have any cravings and was never hungry. What is this? Is it all mental?
  17. Thanks, guys!!! You made me feel better. Rogo, your explanation of things being swollen totally makes sense!!!!
  18. Anyone experience very brief tingling pain in their abdomen? I mean super brief, like 5 seconds. Also, I am walking, walking, walking and taking my PPI, but gas still seems to be stuck in my body. Sometimes it gurgles around, other times it just feels like pressure. I know it's rare, but I'm so concerned about leakage. I'm also doing very well post-op day 3. I'm worried I'm overdoing it. Avoiding heavy lifting, but not sitting still very long.
  19. Hi all, Just got home from hospital yesterday after having VSG. Feeling pretty good, moving around well, following post-op diet to a T. I know it's typical to gain a little weight while in the hospital. I gained about 3 lbs. When does the weight loss start?
  20. Nevermind! I figured it out. :-)
  21. I am 3 days post op. I agree...walk, walk, walk, walk. I was getting stir crazy in the hospital and was walking constantly. I was told this was the best thing I could do to start feeling better, and they wished other bariatric patients on the floor would follow my lead. I'm making progress with the Spirometer, too, so that my lungs stay open. Keep sipping Water. My headached finally went away after people suggested I might not be drinking enough water. Good luck to you!!!! PS: how do you guys put a tracker on your posts?
  22. I just spoke with my doctor's office. They want all pills to be crushed, chewable, or liquid for the first four months!!! UGH!!! Then I can cut them down to the size of a Tic-Tac. Sorry to hear you guys are not feeling well. I hope you get back to feeling normal again soon. I'm sure once the weight starts dropping off, that will lift your spirits!!!
  23. Hi all. I was just sleeved on monday. I have two pills I have to crush. I mix them with pudding but it is still so disgusting. Any ideas? At what point we're you able to swallow pills?
