  1. You have to learn a new feeling of full. Think of it more as satisfied. It is hard. I am 4 wkd out and still learning. I have to think, am I still hungry? No? Ok then stop eating
  2. I feel like there is something in my throat a lot. Even when I have not just eaten. Even when I eat pudding. Even if I dink it is still there. I am not congested so it's not drainage or anything like that. Anyone else have this feeling?
  3. What does it feel like to be stuck? Very uncomfortable. It has only happened to me a couple times. It happens if I eat too quickly and once because I ate a teeny bite of bread off my kids place bc it smelled so good. It feels stuck. That is the only way I can think to describe it. Like a pressure under your sternum. An your instinct is to drink to make it go down, but this will only make it worse. You just harto let it make it's way down. I have not thrown up at all other than right after surgery from the anesthesia Drinking I drink all day long Water, unsweet tea, crystal light. I drink as much as I need/ want just not at all with meals or for 30 min after.
  4. I am told this is normal and that after your fill it will get better. Not sure ice cream is a good choice. Have yu done cream of wheat or oatmeal? Those tended to stick with me a little longer. And so did whipped sweet potato and cottage cheese. If you add unflavred protein powder to your soups etc it can help it stay with you longer.I am 3 weeks out so I can tell you that now that I am back on regular food per my docs diet plan I am full longer ad only wantto eat every 6 hrs or so. Oh and eggs are a good food choice too and are pretty soft and easy to eat. Hope Thi helps. Stick with it and don't lose hope.
  5. I am a nurse and wear scrubs all the time. At work last night I was told to get some new dang clothes! They said I looked like I had on a droopy diaper bc my pants were so big! But they said it in a loving supportive way. Question, at what point did others buy new clothes? I hate to spend money now when I am only 1/4 of the way to my goal.
  6. Ok, I am really trying to like this, but as I sit here I am forcing myself to eat it. This is the firsttime I have had this kind of yogurt. I usually eat the regular fat free and/or sugarfree kind. This is really bitter and kind of sour. I got the strawberry yoplait 2x protein one. Maybe it will grow on me. Any suggestions of a better tasting brand?
  7. That sounds yummy. I found some really good tuna the other day. It us actually a patty already made and comes in the pouches like the regular tuna. They had several flavors and they are nice bc I know exactly how many ounces I am getting without having to weigh it. And it is a good protein source without having to eat plain tuna or add extra fat like mayo. Really good on top of a small salad with Dijon mustard. Which by the way is my new favorite condiments!
  8. I was banded on 2-10-11 by Dr Wright and True Results surgery center in sam Antonio. I had a wonderful experience. The staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. Dr wright is very experienced and encouraging. Made mr feel at ease and confided about my decision to have this procedure.
  9. I am on my third week too and on pretty much normal foods per my surgeons diet plan. I have to either eat with others and engage in conversation to slow down or I try to read while I eat to distract me and keep from shoveling. Also I have noticed if I go too long between meals I am starving and tend to eat faster than I should. Have not had any vomiting, but have had a couple uncomfortable stuck episodes. It is all about changing behaviors and habits. Don't get discouraged, you will get there!
  10. Yeah for you!!! I too had a nsv this week! I can see my toes and I can get up and down from sitting/ lying way easier! Woohoo!
  11. I eat between 1000 and 1200 cal a day. I have lost 31 lbs so far in a month. If I eat less thantjat I feel lightheaded and weak. Especially now that am exercising.
  12. I really liked muscle milk and the EAS brand of protein drinks. The muscle milk comes in a wide variety of flocked and is tasty. Kinda like a melted milkshake. I lost 19 lbs in 2 weeks prep doing that one. And it kept me full.
  13. Thanks guys. I used to eat the bars bedew I got banded but was afraid to try them now since I thought they might get stuck. Will try the benefiber too
  14. I have been having issues with this since surgery 2 wkd ago. Been following my preScribed diet and am now back on pretty much normal foods but it has not really improved. O know that with the smaller amounts I am eating I will go less, but it is gettingnto be a problem and uncomfortable. What do other people do about this or take for his problem?
  15. My first week I burped constantly. No matter what I drank it still happened. My doc said to take the gasx strips or chewables and that really helped.
  16. I lost 19 on my pre surgery diet, then 11 my first 2 weeks, now the scale has not budged in 5 days. So I think what is happening to you is normal. And I too can tell a big difference in my clothes. Just stick to the program your doc has for you and you will ge there!
  17. I was banded on 2/10/11 and am on the soft meat stage. In 2 days i can go to regular foods. I eat a lot of eggs, chicken and lena greund meats. Turkey sausage is good too. Cooked veggies ( broccoli, squash, peas, carrots) and fruits. If I eat too many "sliders" (pudding, yogurt, jello) I get hungry too soon. I have lost 30 lbs and have not lost any in 5 days. But I know that untill I have a fill in a few weeks, it will prob be like that. EAS or Muscle Milk are good protein supplements, but they dont keep you full as long. Do whatever your doctor says to do as far as eating is concerned, but know that if you get a good variety of thing, you will not get bored and be tempted to cheat.
  18. I take the viaxtivw or the caltrate plus d in the chewable chocolate pieces. Tastes like a tootsie roll so I have it for a "snack". Takes about 3 bites to eat each one.
  19. Today I was so bad! I took my som to a fast food place with a playground as a reward for being good at the dentist. I really only antes a snck and prob would have been satisfied with just a diet lenmonade but I orders food instead. I feel so guilty! I have been so food and I feel like today I totally screwed up! I ate fries and chicken. Not a whole meal, prob just half, but I still feel so down about it. This is totally the thing that got me here in the feat plaace and here I am at it again. Goingto try not to eat te rest of te day.
  20. I can understand to a point what he is going through. I was only banded a couple weeks ago and have already had some issues with depression and saddness. Food has definitely been a "friend" to me over the years. It is also an addiction. And like anything else you can be addicted to, when you stop using it there is withdrawal, pain and saddness. I think it would be wise for him to speak to someone about his feelings. Is he having body image issues? I know for men that can be hard to talk about, but it can still be there. Manu friends of mine who have had dramatic weight loss feel a disconnect from their bodies. All they have known for so long is a large self and now they don't know how to live in the new shape. I hope this helps and just know he and you are bot alone in your feelings.
  21. I am figuring out the same thing. I learned quickly that it is not worth the uncomfortable stuck feelin to try to eat stuff I know is on the "no" list. Dis eat one teeny bite I'd thin crust pizza today that my husband was eating and did ok but to scared to push it. Doing well with chicken and lean ground meat. Turkey sausage seems to be tolerable too. And it is great anything of day. Have had chicken fajitas too just without the tortillas. I think a lot of it is just trial and error. Learning to eat all over again
  22. So question about eating. What are te rules about condiments? What about seasonings? What about things like pickles, olives or that kind of stuff?
  23. So glad to read everyones posts and know I am by alone. Banded on 2/10/11. Down 9 lbs since surgery, 28 lbs total. Was feeling like the only one having issues till I read all these posts. Thanks!
  24. I started prep diet Jan 20,lost 19 lb pre op. Banded feb 10. Have lost another 9. But haven't lost any in 3 days. Am not really counting calories, but am definitely not eating more than I should. I guess that is good. Don't go for fill till march 22. Thinking that is a little far off. But I guess the soca know best.
  25. This is good to hear. I was banded 2 weeks ago ad feel the same way. I feel like I am either starving, but it is not time to eat or that I am shaky and weak and need to et, but am not hungry. And I am having a hard time figuring out what is ok and not ok to eat. I like a lot of things, but not sure what I will be able to tolerate and what not. And I lost 9 lbs the first week and none this week. Is that normal too?
