  1. That my hair would get thinner. That somedays I would be starving and other days not want to eat at all. That I wood still have to drink Protein shakes daily to get my needed amount. That I would be cold when others are sweating. That I would feel SO much better after only minimal loss. That I would wish I had done this years ago. That nsv's can be better than the scale moving down. That my family would be so supportive. That my friends and co workers would be so supportive. That I would inspire others to have this procedure too. There are positives and negativesto everything I. Life, so for now I am trying to focus on the positives.
  2. I got a personal loan from y bank with a 7% interest rate. I had my surgery through True Results and since I paid in full up front it covered my surgery and a year of aftercare and fills.
  3. If it is prefaced with a statement of you look great, I have no problem saying how much I have lost. Or if it is someone I haven't seen in a while I have no prob with it either. But, people I work with, family and others I see on a daily basis, do irritate me when they ask. Especially if I haven't lost in a few days. They look so disappointed in mr if I don't lose each time they see me.
  4. This has been really helpful and encouraging. Thanks everyone
  5. How many cals are they? Most I have seen are around 200 cals which is a lot for a snack when you are on a strict intake.
  6. Not sure about protein bars. But I like the fiber one 90 cal bars for a snack. They are peanut butter with chocolate and help mr get my much needed fiber. I don't have a prob right now getting enough protein.
  7. I am in the exact same boat! I was banded feb 10th. I have lost 37 total but keep playing with the same 2 pounds. Can seem to keep them off. Getting filled tuesday. Hope that helps.
  8. My very well meaning best friend gbe me a scale as a gift after my surgery. It has become an obsession. I weigh myself at lest once sometimes twice a day. And my weight fluctuates throughout he day. I can be as much as 3 lbs up or down depending on the time of day. How often do other weigh? How can I get past this obsession.
  9. I can eat brocolli as long as it us cooked and soft. Canned asparagus while not nearly astasty as fresh is ok for mr too since it is kinda mushy. Salad even darker lettuce is ok for me too. But raw carrots, celery or broccoli cause me issues. Cucumber and tomato are ok. Corn is a huge no for me. A lot of it varies from person to person.
  10. So ready for a fill! Going Tuesday for first fill. Feel lime I could eat anything right now! How many gills did other need before feeling restriction.
  11. Tuba or salmon patties. I buy them Pre made in a pouch like regular tuna. High protein and low cal. That plus some salad or veggies keeps mr full about 5 hrs. And I have gone back to homemade protein smoothies in the morning. Fresh fruit. Ice. Greek yogurt. Lots of person and my fiber too since I add benefiber powder. I I get hungry and need a snack a handful of almonds or a 90cal fiber one bar tides me over.
  12. It will get better. Some docs put a small fill in atthe time of Surg and some don't. Plus now your natural swelling restriction is prob gone. I am 5 weeks out and in need of a fill which I will get next week. I feel like I can eat way more than I should too. A big part of it is in your head. I have to keep busy or I will snack and graze. I think it is just going to be that way for sone people. Don't get discouraged. It will get better. And it sounds like you are doing right by focusing on proteins now.
  13. I can feel mine too it is on the right side of my belly right below the ribs. It doesnt bother mr but I creeps out my hubby. I am an RN and all my fellow nurses want to see and feel it. Guess it is just a medical person thing.
  14. Made this tonight when the rest of the family was having pizza. In a small baling dish spread Pasta sauce on bottom. Dice mushrooms, bell pepper ad black olives and sprinkle over sauce. Spear layer of ricotta on top. More sauce to cover cheese. Then sprinkle parmesan on top. Bake at 350 for 20 min until bubbly. So yummy! Can leave out veggies for those in mushy stage or can add ground meat for extra Protein if you like v
  15. They use it to clean the area before surgery.
  16. Banded feb10,2011. Down 37 lbs and off all meds. (blood pressure and diabetes) and dh says I hardly snore any more. Hoping to lose about 70-80 more! Already buying new smaller clothes and able to walk 2-3 miles without exhaustion. Thanks for the brag opportunity!
  17. That's great. I am a labor nurse too. Ithink there are a lot of us nurses onthus forum. Funny! I was banded 5 weeks ago and am down 37 pounds and they are calling me droopy drawers because I refuse to buy new scrubs yet!
  18. It will get better, but there will always be temptation. I am 5 weeks out and on all regular foods minus breads, pastas and those kinds of things. I am surprised though at how easily I get satisfied and lose interest in foods I used to love. Had steak this weekend and after 5 or 6 bites I really just didn't want anymore. In the past I would have cleaned my plate! So try to hang in there. I would chew ice which I know is bad for your teeth, but it helped in the first couple weeks when I wanted to chew something. Hang in there v
  19. Ok. Now it is my turn to ask something embarrassing. I have been married to my dh for 12 yes and thought for the last 5 or so that the loving was lacking excitement for me just due to the fact we had been together so long ad "done it all" in bed and that it was normal for things to get kinda vanilla (plain) in that area of our lives. But now that I have been losing weight and have more energy we are having sex more often which is good. And it is more exciting and I am more sensitive down there and he even said he could tell a difference. Was my fat lady bussiness to blame for our lack of lust? Well I am glad that is resolving now! Anyone else have this experience?
  20. Wow fireman. Not sure what to think about that... It was 2 weeks for me. But have to say it has been much more frequent than pre band!
  21. Most docs won't put in an iud unless you hbevalready had one child because otherwise it can be very difficult and painful to insert since the cervix (opening to tue uterus) has never opened and is stiffer. Sorry to be medical/technical, but that's what I do!
  22. Really cute dresses and skirts. I always wear dress pants or long ankle length skirts to hide my heavy calves and ankles. Can't wait to wear a short dress with cute heels or sandals.
  23. I have size 24! Capris and pants. Let mr know.
  24. I have heard others say they eat kashi or others mixed with yogurt. I haven't tried it yet.
  25. It will go away bibwas very burpy the first week or so but am 4 weeks out now and much better. My throat was very sore and uncomfortable. I think it was partly swelling and gas and partly throat irritation from the intubation and anesthesia. It will get better hang in there!
