  1. don't forget, even if you don't lose pounds you could be losing inches. nature works in its own way.
  2. I was banded yesterday. I had to stay overnight do to insurance/hospital rules...and what they gave me for supper last night was sf popsicle, Jello, tea, milk. and lemonade crystal light. I ate the popsicle, two bites of the jello and about half the crystal light. According to my post op meals list from the doc..my meals should be 3 meals of 2-4 ounces of Protein shake (I like the Bariactric Advantage Banana) and my Fluid intake needs to b 48-64 ounces and this is for days 1-5. hang in there!
  3. Congrats! Tomorrow is my day. I have had two c-sections and a hysterectomy, so this should be a breeze...although I was younger then. Happy Banding!
  4. I have posted it on my facebook page, I have told anyone that I talk to..ok not strangers...but family, friends, etc. I hadn't been to my PCP in over a year and saw him today. I think he was surprised but he said he thought the band was the right way for me to go. Over the years he has seen me lose...but gain more back. I can lose weight, I just can't keep it off and this will be a constant reminder. Some of my co-workers are concerned, but at the same time very supportive. My birthday is a week after my surgery and they usually have cake for the birthdays. The last person who's birthday it was plans the next, she came to me today to ask what I wanted. We are going to have yogurt! The naysayers don't understand. But with me, I am 54 years old and 5'2". I weighed 155 when I graduated from High School and in 3 months after that I was at 190. I have done Jenny Craig, Nutrisystems, Weight Watcher, diet pills, doctors...you name it. Its time to live!
  5. My surgery is tomorrow at 10:30. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! I am so ready and so tired of not being able to find really cute clothes and keep up with my husband and step son at Fiesta Texas and wonder if I will fit in a ride! ONWARD!!!
  6. So glad you are feeling better. the important thing is to know you can do it! and you don't have to do it alone.. We are here for you!
  7. I have had about the same here at True Results in San Antonio..they are awesome. Only thing is Aetna won't allow me to have the surgery at the True Results so I have to go to a hospital and the hospital requires and overnight stay. May 26th!!! is my surgery date.
  8. it will pass...just think of the end results. I am on day 13! Good luck!
  9. I was speaking from experience also on the meds. My late husband was 40 when he passed away and had major heart and blood pressure problems.. Unfortunately his wasn't fixable with WLS.
  10. I have been practicing all of the above mentioned things since my pysch eval. Still having problems with the slow eating, the drinking with meals has been fairly easy. I still get Water with my meal in case I am eating something spicy. I will never be one to put my fork down between bites, but at least I never try to stuff two bites in my mouth at once. Good luck!
  11. I just found out Friday that I am supposed to be inpatient but am calling the dr on Monday to find out why. I had been told out-patient and in my case the difference is $250 out of pocket.
  12. I am the 26th and have already been on liquid for over 1 week. Its not too bad. I am more excited than scared.
  13. my nutrionalist(sp) said that the food stays in the pouch for about a minute..thats why we need to eat slow. this tells our stomach and brains we are getting full a little at each bite.
  14. I am still pre-op and these are some awesome suggestions! thanks!
  15. I will just say this....blood pressure meds will do that to a man...so if he loses weight and can get off his bp meds...that is sure to help even if it isn't the sole reason.
  16. I did Muscle Milk while I was waiting for my Baractric Advantage to come in. its online and awesome.
  17. I am thinking about Water aerobics...how did you like them?
  18. I am not banded yet but my husband and I have talked about going out to eat after the band and we will just share a plate. That way he won't over eat, neither will I and we will save money to boot! I usually go out to lunch every day...and I probably will go out every other day after the band......eating the rest the next day, or just buy kids portions or appetizer. You will be fine and feel more like going out..maybe start going out dancing after dinner!
  19. I am going to be banded on the 26th of May and I am looking forward to being able to go to amusement parks and keeping up with my husband, son and grandkids...and not worrying about if I will fit in the ride.
  20. I am so happy to hear how much you have lost in 11 months...it gives me even more encouragement.!
  21. I am on day 6 of 14...not doing too bad. Had a piece of grilled chicken last night and having one tonight...but other than that...and that was an ok item...I am hanging in there. My husband works nights so only on the weekend did I have to smell food being cooked.
  22. I am having trouble drinking the 4-5 shakes a day I am supposed to have...only had one or two and water and one diet coke. since Thursday..is that a problem?
  23. Well, I am scheduled for May 26th, but have to have a second endoscope on the 20th. Started my liquid diet on Thursday. I can still have diet coke but really only want one in the morning. lots and lots of water! Thanks and good luck to everyone! Karen
  24. I think, or at least I am, overly worried about things. My husband said I was over thinking the liquid thing...but he used to lift weights and drank them all the time. I talk about it all the time, and I have great co-workers who are really interested (or appear to be) they ask questions and are excited for me. Good luck! and we will listen anytime! Karen
  25. Bariactric Advantage online....I have had their Strawberry, Banana and Chocolate....all are good to me...but just ordered a big bag (35 servings) of banana..it was the best to me. I tried the Muscle Milk - banana creme and thought is was fair.
