  1. I have bought a few items. I wear scrubs to work daily and the ones I had prior to surgery are waaaaay to big. I had to buy some new ones and they are starting to get a little big as well. I will be holding off as long as possible. I did buy some new shirts as I tend to lose weight faster on the top. My sister gave me some of her clothes that she wore as she was trying to lose the "baby weight" she gained. I like to reward myself with a new shirt or outfit once a month. Keeps me motivated and gives me something to look forward to. I have noticed since I have lost some weight, I put a little more effort into getting dressed.
  2. Hello all!! Glad to read you are all doing so well. I have lost a total of 40 pounds since starting the pre-op diet and having surgery. 22 of those pounds came after I had surgery. I hit a bit of a stopping point this past month and lost about 4 pounds. I have increased my cardio and weight training, and have been focusing on no carbs. I have already dropped several clothing sizes and feel much more energized. YIPPEEE!!
  3. I had my first fill today and it went great. I do however feel pretty hungry. Anyone else experiencing this?
  4. How long after surgery do we have to wait before we do more strenuous activities like P90X?
  5. Woohoo!! I signed up. I am excited!
  6. I thought it was just me! I have been exercising and am still in the mushies phase. I seem to have experienced a lack in weight loss this week. Also, I am also pretty constipated (TMI). Glad to read I am not alone.
  7. Oh my goodness, the potato soup is amazing!!
  8. Hello all, I got the okay to move on to mushies!! i never thought about putting things through the processor like you are doing Elle. That would definitely help me get in added Protein. I am definitely growing tired of my Protein shakes. What type of shakes are you all drinking and do you like them? Courtney
  9. I am five days post-op and 5 days into my 2 week liquid diet. I have been drinking protein shakes, eating jello, sugar free pudding, popsicles, broth, and drinking tea. I have not cheated but am having a really intense craving for some mashed potatoes right now.
  10. Glad to hear you are doing well, Elle!! I am doing pretty good too. Today is the first day that I actually feel like I am starving. I have not cheated but I sure would give anything to have some mashed potatoes!!
  11. I am finally home and doing great. I have a little pain but nothing unbearable. Thank you for the prayers and kind thoughts!!
  12. Well, tomorrow is the big day! i am excited although I have had many different thoughts and fluctuations in emotions in the past couple of days. Thoughts like am I doing the right thing, and the the opposite side which is pure excitement. Never the less, I am totally excited!
  13. Elle23- My diet does rock. I am still trying to eat very little considering I won't be able to eat anything after surgery. I am trying to adapt. Right now I am drinking the Atkins shakes and lite muscle milk shakes. I am allowed to have anything with less than 5 grams of sugar, low-low carbs, and 15+ grams of Protein. The Atkins shakes are delicious. As of today, I have lost 11 pounds....woohoo! Also, I haven't strayed at all! I can't wait until next Wednesday!!! You are doing excellent as well. Great job!
  14. Hey everyone, I have been on my pre-op diet for a week now. At first I was constipated but now it is quite the opposite. Has anyone experienced something similar while on their pre-op diet? My stomach seems to be very sensitive right now, and it's like my body is going through a cleansing. Thanks, Courtney
  15. Hello everyone!! My pre-op diet has not been too bad. I am allowed to have 2-3 shakes, 1-2 decent meals which consist of 4-6 oz of lean meat such as chicken or pork chops. Along with steamed broccoli, cauliflower, salad, green Beans, or anything else that is green. I can have as much green veggies as I want. Also, sugar free Jello and/or pudding. No carbonated beverages, sugar, or carbs other than what is in the veggies. My diet is pretty much Atkin's style. So far I have been doing really, really well. I have not cheated at all. I am on day 6 out of 14. Today I had a shake for breakfast. For lunch I had a grilled, boneless pork chop with steamed cauliflower. I had a shake as a snack and for dinner I just ate some romaine lettuce with a small piece of lean chicken. As of today, I have lost 7 pounds on my pre-op diet. Courtney
  16. I am on day three of mine and it is getting easier. I am allowed to have 2-3 protein shakes and a couple of lean pieces of protein like chicken and pork chops. Also, I can eat all the sugar free jello, pudding, and green vegetables I want. The first two days without carbs were the hardest, but I am doing better now!! I am keeping my eye on the prize. Ten more days and then I have my surgery...woohooo!!!
  17. Hello all, I too am a February bandster. My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd. These first two days of the pre-op and I must say that I am starving...I am constantly thinking of food. I am praying that this hunger subsides soon. )) Courtney

  20. I haven't heard anything just yet!! Thanks for checking. I am trying to refrain from calling my insurance every day to check on the status. I will let you know as soon as I do.
  21. My paperwork has been submitted to my insurance company for approval. I will update you whenever I get an answer.
  22. Hey there, How long did the entire process take for you? I have the same insurance. Also, I was not over 35 BMI for the entire portion. I was over 35 for about 2 1/2 years of those 5 years. I am hoping to get approved in the next week or so. My records were submitted for approval on Friday! Congrats to you!!! Courtney
  23. Hello all, My paperwork has finally been submitted. It was submitted on Friday to United Healthcare. I am hoping to hear back from them soon. I know that my BMI wasn't over 35 for all of my 5 year history, but it has been over 35 for the last two and a half years. My current BMI is 45, and i have Hypothyroidism, PCOS, and am insulin resistant (pre-diabetic). Hopefully, I will get approved and scheduled for surgery sometime in February!!!! Courtney
