  1. Well, I was having the whole "cold feet" issue once I confirmed my surgery date and I start my liquid diet Wednesday so I had to get it over with.....I'm glad I did!
  2. Yeah, I would stay away from the "mall" unless it's a high end makeup line where you actually have to MAKE an appointment. I've heard that Bobbi Brown is very good. Also, a lot of salons and day spa's have estheticians that are licensed and would probably be much more help than Suzy Q at the clinique counter. I love clinique as I use their make up but I always know what I need when I go there because they are never helpful when it comes to what's right for me. You could look in your area online and read reviews as well maybe?? :-)
  3. Surgery Feb 10th - 1:45 pm Took my before pics last night and WOW..........................What an motivating eye opener..........any doubt or fear of surgery I had is GONE...... good luck to everyone
  4. So...I'm scheduled for surgery Feb 10th. I started to freak out and get scared a little but I will tell you........My husband and I took our "before" pics last night and that made all of my fear disappear and reassured that I am doing the right thing. Boy was that some eye opener......
  5. Congrats everyone! :-) I'm scared, nervous and excited......totally looking forward to the liquid pre-op diet I start next Wednesday
  6. I had staples after my C Section and you can barely tell I was cut :-)
  7. Thank you! It's crazy because I have been very positive about this the whole time, I've thought about it for years and its taken me a few to get approved...and now I am like googling complications and reading the negative stuff (which I already knew.....) but it's making me freak out and i am doing it to myself! LOL
  8. I've been in the approval process for almost 2 years and I finally got my surgery date today. All day I've been running the cons through my head and I am scared... I know there's a risk in everything and I think I am at more of a risk by not doing it and staying obese or losing and gaining again as I have all of my life.....Ughhhh is this just cold feet????
  9. Well, there ya go! You sound like a strong woman who has her mind set and we will all be here to share our trials and tribulations with! Good luck on your journey. I just got my approval TODAY after a 2 year process to get approved......February 10th is my date and it's going to be a committed marriage for life!
  10. Love both of those posts!
  11. My mom had bypass done and has gained all of her weight back.......you can cheat on any of them. If you are in the right frame of mind and certain of your decision you will succeed. There will be struggles....but that's life.
  12. It will get here.......I did everything to get approved last year only to be told I had to wait until January....so I've been through this whole process to get approved almost 2 stinking years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally got my date today....THANK GOD! It will get here....Patience is a virtue but it sucks too!
  13. Oh....and lap band is reversible should you have complications....the sleeve....NO BUENO can't get that stomach put back together....
  14. 1. What kind of friend is she? A good friend would respect and support your decision.....ESPECIALLY one that has been in your shoes and had WLS. My best friend had the sleeve done and she has had amazing results....because she followed her dr's orders to the t and worked hard to get there. She fully supports my decision for the lap band and have NEVER tried to steer me another direction. 2. Most insurances won't pay for the sleeve. Bottom line, no matter what WLS someone has, it requires commitment, effort and a life of dedication to keep yourself healthy. Anyone can have complications from any of the surgeries. I think the best thing for you to do is to focus on your own thoughts, feelings and needs and not be lead or discouraged by your friend. It sounds as if you have thought about this decision and she def needs to respect your decision.
  15. Thanks for all of the feedback on this post. I'm glad I found it. I am actually a little surprised at some of the negativity on this site. It's like the old saying.....if you don't have anything nice (or good) to say....then don't say it. Maybe they need a sticky topic for ranting and complaining. It's hard enough to go through all of this, maintain hope, will power and motivation without reading the negative stuff. Being real is one thing and I think most of us who have been through the approval process understand the band is a TOOL and we will need to work to get where we need to be. I can't wait to come back and post how my band has helped me once I get her strapped in (Feb 10th) Thanks for the hope and motivation guys and girls
  16. Yemy, I got my call today with the approval and date (Feb 10th) and I am feeling the same way, excited nervous and scared! I'm sure we will go great!
  17. hi there, I just got my approval and date today. February 10th! I'm excited and scared crazy at the same time. I've been waiting close to 2 years for this and it seems unreal that it's finally going to happen! :-) My BMI is 40 and I'm 5'2....I want to lose about 100-110lbs total.
  18. I just got my date today....February 10th so I am right there with you. I start my liquid pre op a week from today but I'm more nervous about surgery. I'm sure we will all do great! Just follow the doctors orders and we will be dropping the pounds!!
  19. Oh my gosh! In 2 days!?!? That's fast! I'm quite nervous myself.....this is the first time I've felt a little scared about this!
  20. Well, after a long wait......(yes, longer than the typical 6-8 months....) I'm approved! February 10th is my day!! I'm so excited but scared now that the date is set....kinda crazy I know.... For anyone who is waiting, it will get here....I promise....waiting sucks, I know! My liquid pre-op starts a week from today....I'm ready to get the show on the road! :P;)
  21. I've actually tried several different kinds, from loreal to dermalogica....I still itch. :-(
  22. Well CRAP....I'm glad I read this....I will need to discuss this with my surgeon and OB/GYN....I'm not trying to get preggo!
  23. uuugghhhh....yeah...been there before....you will get in them girl! :-)
