About Me

I am 34 years old and married to the nicest man I have ever met. He is in the Army reserves and is currently working on his master's to become an army chaplain. I met him while I myself was in the military.

I joined the Navy in 1998 and almost didn't make weigh in. I had been chubby my whole life, and weight was always an issue for me. My recruiter requested that I sit in the sauna with a trash bag on and take a laxative the night before I left for boot camp. I weighed in .5 pounds under max weight. For the next 10 years, every 6 months was a fight to make sure I made weight. I had to weigh under 156. I could pass the physical fitness test better than some of my "lighter" coworkers; but if I didn't make under 156, it meant you failed the whole thing. Finally in 2007. I made up my mind to get out.and go to nursing school. I started taking classes at night and weekends, and finally got out of the Navy in July of 2008. I then weighed 175. I then got engaged to my best friend, we were married in October, and he was gone for a year's stay in korea that same month. In Novemebr 2009, he came home and I got pregnant right away.Probably was weighing around 190 then. A week before nursing school graduation in January 2010 I had a miscarriage and we were devastated. Last year was extrememley difficult health wise, and personally; living my husband whom I had never lived with, moving to a new town, trying to pass nursing board and find a job.Not being able to get pregnant again (probably because of the weight and stress) I also ended up getting glaucoma and had to have eye surgery. The weight just kept piling on. I think my heaviest I was 230, which is big for me considering that I have been active my whole adult life. I decided on getting the band to help get my life back. I also would like to get pregnant again and be healthy. I have a great coach and cheerleader in my husband. I am aslo happy to be on here with other bandsters.
