  1. I was at the same weight for about a month... I had my surgery on Dec. 27th and didn't get my first fill til April 16th. Had my second one yesterday. I only lost 5 pounds between fills. I think this 2nd fill is going be much better. I also have been trying to stay away from carbs... I know when I have ANY carbs... I won't lose. If I were you, I check back with the Dr. ask again about another fill. This shouldn't be THIS difficult to lose.. isn't that why we opted for this surgery???
  2. I had my surgery Dec. 27th...and was feeling some discomfort (not really pain) around the port area for quite a while. In April I went on vacation and lifted a heavy suitcase to get it into the overhead compartment on the plane. I thought I did something really bad....like flip it. Went to the Dr. soon after my visit and he said it was fine.... I may have just pulled a muscle and feel the soreness around the port area. I felt it for a couple of weeks. I'm fine now. had my second fill yesterday and my port if fine. I understand your concern!! I'm sure you are OK too....but be sure to tell your Dr. at your next visit so he can check it out.
  3. I was banded on Dec. 27th and had no gas pains at all... as compared to many that complain about that kind of pain here. I was just a little tired but kept walking too. Maybe that helped??? Back to work in 4 days. We might just be the "lucky" ones!!!
  4. Ok... this is weird. But I've notice that about 75% of the time when I have to go to the "bathroom", I get nauseous. Last night I actually got to the point of dry heaves (since my stomach was empty)... but as soon as I went to the "bathroom" I felt fine. How weird!!! Anyone experience this?
  5. Due to insurance reasons, I didn't have my first fill until this past Saturday. My surgery was Dec. 27th. My insurance wouldn't cover a fill until it was at least 90 days after surgery. The whole month of April I pretty much didn't lose anything.. and also went on vacation for a week. My doc waited until I returned from my vacation before doing the fill....he just didn't want me cross country for my first one. My doc is pretty strict... he wants me to go 2 WEEKS on liquids. I'm a week out... I've been doing OK with just doing the liquids....but today, I'm really starting to feel hungry. I snuck in two scrambled eggs for dinner; topped with grated cheese..... then I ate a few mixed nuts. It went down A-OK.... but I am feeling guilty. . But I did lose 4 pounds this week.
  6. I finally had my first fill this past Saturday ~ 2 1/2 CC's. There are a couple of reasons why I wasn't able to gett a fill sooner.... 1) my insurance would only cover it if it was at least 90 days after surgery... and 2) I was going on vacation... and my Dr. didn't want me traveling across the country for my first fill (just in case I would be too tight). So........... this past month I was totally stalled. It was pretty frustrating... plus I found myself to be REALLY hungry. Well, so far the fill seems to be working.. and I'm not hungry. My Dr. has me on liquids for 2 weeks... YES ... 2 weeks. Seems everyone here is only on liquids for a couple of days. Well.... I asked why.. and they told me that they have found it very successful in "jump starting" the weight loss again. I have a hypo-thryroid... so I definately could use a "jump start". I'm gonna give it my best shot. So far.... so good. If a few more days go by and I find myself craving solids... I'll call my Dr. and see what he says. I also have to admit that prior to my fill, I was able to eat everything and anything. On vacation, I found myself going back to "BAD" habits. So, maybe, if nothing else, the 2 weeks on liquids will get me back on the right track.
  7. OHHHH what a feeling!!!! Congrats!!!
  8. I'm 54 and have a hypo-thyroid. The band has given me hope to finally loss weight!!! And..... it seems to be working!!! I'm walking 3 -4 times a week; eat 800 - 1200 calories per day. I'm feeling great... but still have a long way to goo. Never tooo old to get healthy and fit. I was banded in December . I found that I wasn't losing for almost a month and finally got my first fill yesterday. (for some reason, my insurance is pretty strict about the timing of fills in order to get it covered) My Doc tells me that I've only just begun by journey and that once I hit the "sweet" spot with the perfect amount of fill, I'll surely be successful!
  9. Yep... I had those strings too. About a month after surgery, my Dr. removed them. I believe it help with the placement of the port. Be sure to NOT pull or cut them yourself and ask your Dr. what why they are there. Maybe the same reason as mine. I'm sure you have a follow up apt with him very soon.....?
  10. Ok... I'm back! I was totally STUCK at the same weight for almost a month. I got my first fill yesterday, so now I should be losing again. I was getting very frustrated and I was embarrassed to post ZERO on the spreadsheet. I'll be sure to weigh in tomorrow. I'm not sure I'll make my goal.... but if I can get half way there, I'll be really happy!!!
  11. My surgery was on Dec. 27th. I just had my first fill this morning. I've stayed at the same weight for the past 4 weeks..... and SO glad I finally got the fill. I've been nervously looking forward to today for the past 3 weeks. I got 2 1/2 CC's . My dr. has me on Clear Liquids for two weeks. I hope I won't be feeling any hunger.... Being on clear liquids for so long sorta scares me.... If nothing else, it will definitely jump start me into losing again. I was very nervous that it was going to hurt.... I'm soooooooooo glad it didn't!!! Much easier than I expected. Yeah!!! back into losing again!!!! (I was really getting frustrated!)
  12. So glad that you're doing well. I still haven't had a fill yet... It's finally scheduled for April 30th. I've been stuck at this weight for almost 3 weeks and I'm really hoping that my fill will help jump start me into losing again. My goal is to lose another 18 pounds by memorial day. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm not sure I'm gonna make that.
  13. Ha. I got a Kohls Ad for WOMEN SIZES with a $10 coupon and another 30% off. HA ...I can't use it... I threw it away!!!
  14. Inspiration!!! Thank you!! I was banded on 12/27/10 and should be getting my FIRST fill as soon as I get back from my vacation ... in about 2 weeks. My weight loss right now is VERY slow..... and a bit frustrating!!! Thank you again.
  15. I've had this little cough thing going on too since I've been banded. I don't have a cold and I'm not feeling sick or congested. I was thinking that is due to the anesthesia. My surgery was on 12/27/10... Hmmmm weird. I haven't even had my first fill yet.....so I can't believe that it's from being too tight. Anyone in this situation??
  16. Have had NO fill yet....so weight loss recently has been slow......but at least it was a LOSS!!! Ya'll have a GREAT week!!
  17. AWESOME!!!! AWESOME!!!! Such a GREAT feeling. I too went shopping yesterday and realized I am NO LONGER in Plus sizes!!! Yahoooooo!!!
  18. Went shopping today.... I'm officially OUT of the PLUS size department!!!! Yahoooooooooooooooooo!!! I'm doing the happy dance!!! I didn't buy too much ~ just a couple of tops. I still have a long way to go, so I don't want to invest too much in clothes right now. But... it feels good to have a couple of new, nice things to wear to work!!
  19. You'll get through it!! I know at the time it seems impossible...but you'll be fine. My toughest part was 10 days before my surgery....it included Christmas!!!! It seemed like it was going to be the end of the world. I also was "DREAMING" about food. Hang in there.... in a short time, you'll be wanting a fill to help slow down your hunger.
  20. Depending on the size of the pill. Smaller ones I can take whole. I have a very LARGE Rx.. that I cut in half. I'd rather take that one whole since it's time released.
  21. I haven't had a fill yet.... and am planning on my first to be the end of April some time. There are 2 reasons I'm waiting so long to get my first fill; one is that my insurance will only cover it if it's at least 90 days after my surgery and two, I'm going on vacation in early April. My doctor told me that he will have me on liquids for 2 full weeks after the fill (reason why I'm waiting til after my vacation). I haven't seen anyone else on this board having to be on liquids for soooooooooo long. I wonder why my Doc is so strict with this................ ??
  22. not a great first week for me. No loss! but sorta what I expected since I didn't have a chance to work out last week. I always seem to put everything and everyone ahead of me and my needs. This week, I have a mini goal to work out a minimum of 4 times.
  23. My port is also under my left rib. I can barely feel it.. Sometimes when I lean up against my desk at work I can feel it. But it's really not bothering me. However..... I was wondering... hmmmmmmm what if i ever need the Heimlich maneuver or every have an air bag hit me???? I know it seems terrible to even think such things.... but ... wouldn't it dislodge my port or hurt it some how?? Was something I thought about and just wondered .... I guess I should have some sort of ID in my wallet to let emergency peeps know my situation. I'm sorry..... don't mean to get weird about this. Anyone else have such things go thru their minds?
