  1. i was just beginning week 3 when i leveled out, it's frusterating when it's so early yet. I have decided not to weigh my self many times a week...just once..so then if it's even a pound or two...it will be encouraging =) i also love that graph...very motivating!
  2. So i was sleeved on march 29th, I'm almost 4 weeks out, From what i've read on here it does seem many people have stalls...and everyone's body is different. I'm usually really good about getting to my 60g protein per day...water...not so good...some days i drink alot when i try, but if it's not my priority for the day...i end up behind. My new focus is going to be water now that i have protein down..has any of you seen stalls go away with upping your water intake? I've lost a little this week...I'm at 19 lbs lost, don't get me wrong i'm thrilled and people have definitely noticed, but i would like to see a little more. I haven't been workingout hard yet, i think i will hit the gym today too and see if that helps. My energy level just hasn't recovered since surgery yet, did any of you experience this? and if so how did you overcome this? I'm supposed to still be on puree food...but i'm honestly not....i stick with small bites...even meat and chew chew chew till i can basicially swish it in my mouth then swallow. I avoid breads and pasta's they don't feel good. No pain or anything...not sure if i will get scolded from my surgeon on monday or not, i just can't do that dang puree business anymore. Thanks in advance! and Happy early Easter!!
  3. I had to share this for us newbie sleevers that are still not able to eat regular food. my husband smoked a center pork roast last night......i was drooling over it...he said i can puree it..it's really tender...so i thought what the heck...i'll try it....Can we say AMAZING.....he added a little bit of bbq sauce and beef broth...best meal i've had in a week....and from what i've read it has crazy amounts of protein...23-27 grams for 3 oz. yum yum yum....i'm a week out and some things are already getting sickening...so anything new and flavorful is a blessing!
  4. I wish i could answer this for you, but i'm not quite 1 week out. From reading on here, i know getting your protein is super important and minimizing your carbs, is that something you are tracking as well? What about strength training? I know building muscle will increase metabolism and more muscle burns more calories. I was just reading a fitness article yesterday and it said that getting your whey protein after strength training is more important than people have previously thought because it increases the muscle by some crazy number. I understand the need for support as well....i have one friend that had bypass, she understands this journey, but the rest of my friends and family are kind of at a loss...Any thing i can do to help, i will...I"m sure other will offer their advice that have gone through this whole process. Good luck and take care...and btw..71 lbs isn't something to sneeze at...THAT IS AMAZING...i truly hope i can pull a number like that! Good Job on your losses so far!
  5. yay!! doesn't it feel amazing....Tonight was the first time i was able to step on the scale and see a loss....7lbs...all this trauma is finally starting to feel worth it! Great Job and congrats to you!!!
  6. Today is the first day i've gotten excited....it's been a rough recovery road so far. I was sleeved on tuesday 3/29/11...mentally it's been hard getting used to eating 4 tbsp for a meal...every bite and drink hurts...BUT...i weighed myself tonight...and i'm down 7 lbs....i couldn't be happier =) Finally i'm a LOSER...and hopefully i will continue to lose...i will sleep good tonight and my attitude towards all of this will be better! Thanks for all your support on here...you guys rock!
  7. the day following my surgery they started my on puree and i have to continue on puree for 4-5 weeks post surgery. They recommended baby food and milk for protein as well as shakes. I was surprised that i got 9 grams of protein from just that little jar. I decided to try it today since i tried puree meats myself at home and cannot get the right consistency...i have 2 food processors and a blender but apparently i am a puree idiot =) Thanks for the lovely welcome, i'm loving this forum so far!! it is really a life change...today i've been really moody...for some reason i just want a darn cupcake with buttercream frosting..i never crave that...why i'm craving it today i have no idea...i've been a witch for the better part of the day and i'm ready to get back to my happy old self...=)
  8. I checked in at 5:45 am on tuesday morning and was discharged Thursday at 1pm....when i had my appt with my surgeon preop, he said one day then he said wait..how many kids do you have...I replied..4....he said..hmmm 2 days...hahha...i think he just wanted me to get a head start with resting...i think one day is standard.
  9. I see that you have a myfitnesspal ticker...do you use that to track your food every day too? I use it and love it....let me know your username if your on it and i'll friend you =) Thanks, Sally
  10. does anyone know if they sell the unflavored protein powder at walmart or target? I think i'd rather just add it into a little bit of everything than having the shakes. any good brands you've tried and where you bough them?
  11. i can't believe i'm writing this, but i must say the gerber ham with gravy mixed with the great value 4 cheese potatoes were pretty much amazing...i feel like i just ate thanksgiving dinner...this is the first meal i've actually felt satisfied with since surgery...i may have ate a tbsp too much though...probably could have done without that. The other thing i need to rave about that is helping me sooo much is the sugar free candies...i bought the lifesaver wild cherry hard candy sugar free....yep it's amazing..i also had gotten the sugar free jolly ranchers...again...yum yum yum. I did get out and go grocery shopping..and got my exercise in...i also cleaned my office so i don't feel so useless...i've just been going stir crazy..i'm one that is used to cleaning up all day after my 4 kids..sitting around is not my ball of wax...but i've hit my limit today..i'm officially sore =( little by little day by day. I"m so glad i have this forum....i have to admit..i feel really alone in this..but i know it will get better.
  12. i was thinking i should wait till the end of the day for my protein shake and really push the water all day. I use skim with the protein...does that count toward the liquid intake?
  13. really?? hey that's great to know too...i didn't realize that the protein shakes counted toward the water goal....that makes life a million times easier..!!! Is that what others have experienced too?? I'm going to try to stay of the oxicodone today too...it's makes me so loopy and almost sick now...i think i'd rather take the pain.
  14. Well that's reassuring...i have been trying to get my Protein in...and coming close to my 60 grams a day. I will now try to push the water as i have been falling short on that. I am getting my Vitamins and my tums in and that enzyme pill and pepid twice a day. Does anyone get frusterated not being able to eat much? i find myself kind of angry when i'm eating. i guess it just takes time to connect the brain and stomach again. i'm going to try a walk around the block today and work my way up from there. I'm trying to get one 8 once glass of milk with one scoop of Protein powder in so far. I can already tell i'm going to get sick of that really fast! Thanks for all your support it's good to talk with other going through the same thing...others around here don't really understand the change and how hard it is. one final question...today i'm finally back to my weight on the day of the surgery..i gained like 13 pounds from Fluid...good gracious!!...did all of you experiance that as well?
  15. so i was sleeved on tuesday 3/29, I'm on day 4 and even water causes pain as i swallow..only for a few moments..then it passes...same with food... is this normal?
  16. liquids for a month...good gracious...that sounds ;(
  17. haha..yes they are this one i saw last week was especially evil...she referred to my post meals as feeding times like i'm an animal at a zoo and then she looked me in the eye and said in a nasty voice..." Now don't go out any have any "last" meals" else your surgery will be CANCELLED!....i thought..who the hell are you?? I've been the same darn weight for over 3 years...LIke i'm going to go out and hoard and binge food all week...Clearly i will not see her again...she's a H*e bag in my book. LOL and they did say that with such a long duration of the puree and soft it eliminates any leakage..they said they've never even had one person leak...so i guess that's good. Of course i can say that now because i can still eat normally for the next 25 hours...crap i just realized i only have 25 hours left...better head to redlobster and immmediately follow with timberlodge and then maybe a chinese buffet to boot...i'm kidding of course but seriously that dietician was a h*ebag...Thanks for your reply! =)
  18. I'm just wondering what everyone else's progression of food break down to.....According to my literature and my dietician...(who is evil btw) they say 2 days of liquids then 4-5 weeks of puree then 4-5 of mechanical soft and then 4-5 of soft then regular food...she said 3-4 months before regular normal food... Also does anyone have any recommendations on good protein powder, i want to still be able to juice some veggies and thought i would add in the protein powder so i meet my 60 goal daily...
  19. Ahhhh! Now I'm kinda scared for the first few weeks...I know it's worth it...but still nervous for tuesday...
  20. Good Morning everyone! I am getting so nervous...i could hardly even sleep last night...my stomach hurt just out of preparation...=/ I've waited so long and now it's finally on tuesday...Did any of you go through the same thing? ..with the nervousness and anxiousness?? I know i just need to calm down..focus on the things i need to get done around this house and everything will be fine...i'm really going to buckle down today and get my mind off of it...=) it's weird because on one hand it seems like it's coming so fast but on another it's taking forever...sorry for my rant..i just feel crazy today.
  21. I have to wonder too...i guess every dr. is so different..i just met with my surgeon today for my surgery next tuesday..he didn't say anything about restricting any diet, lowering my carbs, not sure if he looked at the dietary notes from earlier and thought i was doing alright..but he heads the mayo clinic dept of bariatrics, so i know he's good at what he does...was your surgery laproscopic?..I'm so sorry though..i never would have been able to hold in the tears...i would bawl like a baby!! you will get there and get it done...just follow their directions this time...it's all about pleasing them at this point =( Although my dietician that i saw today was mean and NASTY...she said..now don't think about going out and having any "last meals" incinuating that i would go hoard and indulge food all week..because if you gain any weight the surgery will be off....she was also the same person that referred to my meals post op as feeding times like i'm an animal....good gracious some people are just bas**ds...dirty ones at that. Chin up girlfriend...
  22. So i found out last week that my surgery date is the 29th of march...i'm so excited i can hardly contain myself...it's been a long journey. I started the process back in july of 2010....it seems like forever. In one respect the length of time has really assured me that this is right and i'm ready for it. I"m not sure if any of you have had doubts...and to this day i still think what if i fail? what if it doesn't work for me...the curse of fatness...i hate it..it's such an emotional disease. The hardest thing now is waiting...I have one girlfriend who had bypass a few years back...she understands this process and she's so excited for me...everyone else is just weird. I've been very open to my close friends and family..and a few more....the only other person that is excited for me is my mom...she's a huge support...she says...i can't wait till you get skinny, your so beautiful and just stunning when your thin.....Yes i LOVE my mom...!! =) Any way i'm just here to make friends and get support...and hope the next two weeks fly by!
  23. I've been reading through this forum for quite some time...longingly anticipating my turn...I had started this process back in July of 2010 and I finally have a surgery date!!! March 29th is the big day!! whew hooo!!! I'm having it done at mayo clinic..they are so darn conservative, it seems like it's taken FOREVER and a day. but now i'm 2.5 weeks pre- surgery...almost there, i guess it's time to take some before pictures this weekend so i have a starting point...i'm a photographer, so i'm used to making things look pretty...hmmm no way i'm going to be able to make my body pretty...there isn't enough photoshop in the world..ha ha ha...But i will do it anyway because i find the before and after pictures SO SO motivating. I also told myself i will start running when i get below 200. I'm about 240 right now. So here is the question...I"m really big on my Vitamins and supplements, i take alot...on a normal day i take a multi, Vitamin c, b12, niacin, Biotin, tumeric, fishoil, flaxseed, and usually wheat grass blend along with trace minerals. will i be able to continue taking those after the surgery or am i going to have to wait? Mayo policy on the liquid diet is 4-6 weeks but they said they have NEVER had anyone with a leak because of the longer liquid. wondering if any one has any ideas on this? I'm glad to be here, yall seem very supportive !!! Sally
