  1. I had my surgery 3 days ago, Friday, Feb. 18th in the AM. To recap the last 3 days: Day of surgery - was in a little pain from the incisions but the meds helped, was also in pain from the gas pains - had them in my shoulders, chest, back and even my stomach I think. Drank a little soup, tea and Water at the hospital and then was discharged around 8 PM. Got home and had more water and drank half a Protein shake - BIG mistake! Day 1 is too early for a Protein Shake but I didn't realize that. So Day 2: Woke up with a ton of gas pain and extremely neaseus. Was dry heaving so badly I had to go into the ER for anti-nausea meds and IV fluids. Felt much better after. Day 3: Feeling much better today. Had water, 2 cups broth, tea and Popsicle. Gas pain is much better and my incision pain is minimal. My questions now are: Did anyone else have nausea as bad as I did? Did it go away for good after Day 3? what else can I have on Day 4? Is pudding ok? Tomato soup? Jello? Applesauce? What else have pol eaten that has gone down ok? Thanks so much! This is so helpful!! When did everyone take off their outer bandages?
  2. 2 Quick Questions: 1. How many incisions did you have? (Was anyone able to have just one incision? I've heard that some doctors are doing that now). 2. What are the scars from the incisions like? (Are they very noticeable? Do they heal a little over time?)
  3. I'm having surgery very soon and am starting to get nervous about the actual procedure as well as the first few days after surgery. I would love to know how people felt right when they woke up after surgery and then a few hours later and then a few days later. Did you have pain right when you woke up and/or later? How bad was the pain? Did you feel nausous and/or did you throw up the day of the surgery and/or the next few days following the surgery? What did you do the first few days after the surgery? Could you walk around your apartment? Did you just rest and watch tv? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks SO much!
  4. Does anyone have any advice/recommedations for the pre-op diet? Any things that made it easier? What shakes did people like/dislike? What other things did people eat and/or drink that made it more bearable? Thanks!
  5. Hi, I would love to talk to a few people (either via email, phone or in person) who are banded and who are pregnant or have been pregnant while banded. Please reply to this thread or send me a private message if you wouldn't mind talking with me about your experience. I'm curious specifically about: * The ease of getting pregant while banded * The ability to get enough nutrition for the baby while banded * Labor with the band. Is it more difficult? Can you have a normal C section delivery when you're banded? * How the port reacts when pregnant. Does the port cause problems as your stomach grows larger when you're pregnant? I'm looking into having the surgery and would like to have children sometime in the future so I'm gathering information now. Thanks so much!
  6. Hi, I'm 30 years old and would like to talk to a few people (either via email, phone or in person) around my age who have had the surgery. Please send me a private message if you wouldn't mind talking with me about your experience. I would especially like to talk to anyone who had a BMI under 30 when they had the surgery. My BMI is 28.7. Also, if you had the surgery anywhere in the New York City area, or surrounding areas, would you mind emailing the thread with where you had it done? I'm researching local doctors. Thanks so much!
  7. Hi, I live in Manhattan and would like to talk to a few locals (either via email, phone or in person) who have had the surgery. Please send me a private message if you wouldn't mind talking with me about your experience. I would especially like to talk to anyone who had a BMI under 30 when they had the surgery. My BMI is 28.7 and I'm 30 years old. Also, if you had the surgery anywhere in the New York City area, or surrounding areas, would you mind emailing the thread with where you had it done? 8. If you have a BMI below 30, can you please let me know: * If you have the band or are considering it? * Where you got the surgery, the state and the name of the doctor? * If you selfpaid? I have a BMI of 28 and am currently researching the possibility of getting banded. I live in the New York City area and would prefer to have the surgery locally. Thanks so much!
