Canberra Bansters

Well I now have my date to get my Lap Band surgery done, 6th Januanry 2010. I had booked my appointment with the surgeon on the 11th December but got a call this afternoon and they had someone cancel, so I got in early and got to book my date.:wink2:

I know this is a good thing but I have so many emotions going right now. I am very excited and hoping everything goes well.

Is there any bansters in Canberra and do you know a support group that I can go to as I do not know anyone who has had this done and that I can Keep in touch with. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Mel

I am at the very start of this process as just got a referral from my GP today to see Dr Mosse, and rang to get into an information session before Christmas. I have already done a lot of reading and a substantial amount of thinking about this - it has taken me years to get to this point!

I would really love to hear from you about what you have learnt so far and any advice you may have for me. Also, do you know what your out-of-pocket expenses will be? My health fund said something about if it is medically necessary then Medicare would cover some or something like that.

I am very determined now so will have to find the money no matter the cost.

Hi Mel. How are things going? I don't live in Canberra, but in Orange (which is kind of close by). I was banded last Wednesday! I would love to be able to converse with others who are on the same path as myself. Besides my husband (who is wonderfully supportive) I have only confided in one other person (a close friend from work) so it would be fantastic to have someone else to compare notes with and discuss our experiences and challenges
