I was banded on the 18 September by Dr Dolan.I had followed the optifast religiously and since Since Sept 4, i have lost 12.5kilos. I have also been doing the liquids religiously since last night.Im finding this liquid phase extremely tedious. last night i sucked on a lolly but didnt chew it..is this bad? I have no side effects because it dissolved before it got to my stomach. Im also finding hard to drink more than 50mls. Does anyone know if the doc puts saline into your band when he does the op?

Liquid stage is very tedious. I think I could only think about having Soup now 7 months later cos I just couldn't stand soup by the end of it!

The lolly isn't bad in terms of hurting your band cos it was dissolved before it got to your stomach but probably not in the spirit of the whole thing :tongue2: My doctor said though that the first 6 weeks after are about healing, not losing weight.

I struggled to get down much at all for the first few weeks, so struggling with 50mls isn't uncommon

I am going OK but finding the sameness of the diet a bit tedious even though I am noticably losing weight.

Your loss is excellent!. I somehow escaped the pre op Optifast diet.

Yes, from what I have read, they use a saline solution to hydraulically adjust the band.
