Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has moved since being banded and had to switch surgeons. The reason I ask is because I am moving from Michigan to Illinois in the spring of 2010 and am a little worried about getting a new doctor. I've heard that some people really have a hard time finding a surgeon who will take them on. Just wondering what some of your experiences were! Thanks!

Do your research now. Make phone calls. Ask your current surgeon if he knows anybody in Illinois that he could refer you to.

but if insurance paid for yours i bet it will cover the cost

I didn't move, but my husband and I had our lapband surgury in Mexico, so we had to find a doctor right away to follow us and do our fills here in Florida. We found one by asking on this website and we went yesterday for our initial consult and our first fill. He usually charges $200.00 each, but gave my husband and I a discount for both of us coming together and he did both of us for $300.00. We were thrilled and really liked him. We are self pay also and that is why we went to Mexico. Let me know if you would like any other info.

Where is the doctor in Florida that you switched to and will he do fills for patients that were banded in Mexico?
