Stitch showing through incision/scar

Ok, yesterday, I noticed the head of a thread peeking out of the scar. It hurts to tug it. I bought some new skin today and have been putting it on the stitch.

Has anyone else had this problem? How long did it take to resolve itself? Can I go swimming with this? Is this something I should call my doc about?

I am so irked about it right now. I had plans to go swimming next weekend :frown:

TIA for any advice/information

This isn't that uncommon. Don't tug it, don't put new skin on it, and call your doc on Monday. He may just have you clip it, he may want to see it...at that time, ask him if it's ok to use the new skin

I had that too...DOn't touch it. It will just go away, but call your Dr. to be on the safe side.

My body just doesn't dissolve dissolvable stitches. Let me tell you, it was not a treat after having breast reduction surgery. Stitches were surfacing for months!

As for lap band, I had stitches come out of all of my incisions. With mine they eventually worked their way to the surface and pulled right out. My doc said it's fairly common. As for swimming, don't let the stitch get in the way! Go have yourself a blast. It won't bother the stitch one bit.

I had a pacemaker implanted near my left shoulder in 2000. 18 months later I pulled a 1 1/2" stich out of my hairline. Absolutely freaked my wife out. I thought it was hysterical.
