HELP appealing for a fill

I was able to have my lap band surgery before my husband's insurance changed to Health Assurance in PA. His previous insurance covered most of my lap surgery which was done on May 27, 2009. On June 1st, his insurance changed and Health Assurance will not cover lap band fills. Can anyone help me to appeal this? I contacted the insurance and they said I can write a letter to appeal, but I have no idea what to include. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not familiar with American Law, but I would suggest you ask the Insurance company for their Appeal form.

Try to get a letter from your surgeon indicating you were deemed to be a candidate for the band because of your co morbity problems, etc. and your former insurance company approved the fill proceedure. Hopefully your surgeon will state in his letter that the fill is part and parcel of the band and aftercare is important to the success of the band. Good luck.

Does the insurance cover lap band surgery? IF it is excluded, you may be out of luck on the fills.
