My PCP prescribed zegerid for acid reflux. Zegerid contains sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Do you think it's safe to take?

I would check with my surgeon's office. I know there are other Rxs for reflux that work in a different way (proton pump inhibitor, like Aciphex) and Nexium.

If your concern is for bicarbonate of soda, I can't imagine that would be harmful in any way. There's plenty of food products that include baking soda as in ingredient. I have never heard that it is something we bandsters need to avoid. I'm not familiar with that particular drug. I take Aciphex.
