Sliming or vomiting ...HELP!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I have been banded for less than 5 weeks and I had my first fill one week ago. I had 5 cc put in during surgery and I had .7 put in the band during the first fill. I am not sure if I am vomiting or Sliming but at every meal, I have a great deal of mucus bring my food up again and it looks like pure slime. I do not have the acid taste of throwing up but the food comes right back up again chewed. Someone help please!!!

I have not lost any weight in over a month and I am not sure if I am actually vomiting at every meal and jeopardizing the band. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like either you are too tight or you aren't taking small bites and chewing really really well.

Are you following the "rules"...small bites, chew to mush, no drinking with meals?

I agree. Don't panic, first of all. This is completely normal to have happen. You are learning how to eat again.

Eat a few bites, chew well and STOP for a while. If you are still hungry, eat a few more bites later.

Do not drink any fluids with your meals-this can fill up your pouch so there won't be any room for food.

Perhaps change the foods that you are eating- does EVERYTHING slime back up?

And then if you can't resolve the issue, you can always go back to your doctor who can guide you. You may just need some guidance or an adjustment.

Good luck!

That could be very dangerous at this stage with your band. Please try slowing down, chew your food a little more. Sliming at this point , 5 weeks, not good. Remember dont drink or try to wash down when you are like that. That is a lot in your band so early, Did you have any restriction prior to this fill? If your fluids are going down ok, be patient and maybe eat by your self(alone) for a few days. I know when I got distracted at mealtime by DH or the kids, this was when I had a tendency to eat faster or not chew enough. So I would eat after the family. Try cutting your meat/protien into bites half or 1/4 the size of your thumbnail, easy to picture since it is right there where your tiny fork and knife are. Are you usinig a smaller version of fork? I am 16 months out and I still eat with a coctail fork or baby fork most of the time, it makes a difference, set your fork down in between your bites. Hang in there, we have to retrain our minds as well as our hands.

I think you need to call your dr to go in, On tomorrow it'll be my 6th week since being banded.. I don't get my first fill until June 11th.. Maybe you were filled to soon, I don't know, but I wouldn't take any chances, If you know you're chewing will and doing everything you suppose to, don't question yourself, call the dr that's what their there for...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
