Hernia after Gastric Bypass Surgery

 I had a Lap Band removed and was converted over to a Gastric Bypass in January this year. I have been able to drop 50 lbs. since then. Unlike my Lap Band in which I only lost 12 lbs. However, I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago due to severe pain that I was having in my stomach. They did a CAT scan which showed that I have a Supraumbilical Ventral Hernia that is located right beside where they did my Gastric Bypass surgery. I did some research and found out that 10% of Gastric Bypass patients will get a hernia at some point. It's part of the risk involved with the surgery.

Has anyone else had a Hernia since having Gastric Bypass surgery and if so, what type of hernia was it? Did you have any symptoms with it and did you have it repaired?

Regards,

Palarin

Let us know how you are doing. I have a hernia now (don't know what it's called) but won't be able to have it fixed during my revision to RNY in June. So keep us posted, Nancy.
