Designer Babies? WTF??

This in-vitro thing is getting a little bit ridiculous. Okay, I can see the whole point of wanting to have HEALTHY children, but picking eye or hair or skin color? Sounds like the elitists in New York City and Lala Land are into this kind of stuff and scientists are working on this.

What do you think? Is this taking IVF too far? Where does it stop? Should picking personality traits, genders and physical looks too much? Where do we draw the line?

I saw this on the Today Show. Here is the link:

My husband and I watched this on the news also and we both shared the same opinon you have. It is WAY to scary to think we can "make" babies the way we want them....these babies grow up to be adults and there is something very weird about picking and choosing things to make up a human. I think technology is awesome but I also think some things have gone to far and should be left alone.

I would not change one thing about the two children I have (damn teenagers *wink*) They were (are) a gift from the master planner and why would I alter his blueprint?

Why not? In this world, anything goes. I'm not saying I agree with this, cuz I don't at all. I believe the design of our children should be up to God. But, the world wants to do things their way, not God's way. So, they will reap the consequences of their choices. IVF is now going to be supported by your tax dollars for stem cell research. We can kill baby human beings for research so we can find cures for other human beings now. Before it was... "we can only kill babies if MOM doesn't want to carry them for 9 months", now it's... "We can kill babies to find cures for diseases, too." So, this doesn't surprise me at all.

What I don't understand is why anyone would want to choose the eye color or hair or skin color of their child. Isn't that just one of the beautiful surprises that await mom and dad after the birth? I personally never wanted to even know the gender of my children before they were born. But that's just me. I loved the surprise of it in the delivery room.

As far as where do we draw the line, I say do it naturally. God is the author of life.

Okay, I just want to make it perfectly clear that I support Stem Cell Research. I am on board with anything that can save someone's life or greatly enhance it.

I am also not against IVF. I side with the discovery in that it helps those who are having trouble concieving to the possibility of having children. I do not however agree that we should pick such things as eye or skin color, or athletic abilities. That to me is more akin of building machines, not human lives.
