I have BC BS of GA, Fed employees program, BASIC option.

It covered the band, the hospital and tests, less my co-pays. Everyone was a preferred provider. I think I paid $1000 to cover the surgery.

congrats on your loss.I do not think they have the fed kind.i have been hearing that it is bc/bs so i am going to keep my fingers crosses.my hubby goes in next week to discuss this full time position and i am praying for a miracle right now.did you have to go through a long waiting period before was approved or have to meet special reqirements.

The surgeon's office submitted as soon as I'd done all the testing. It was approved in less than 2 weeks.

The surgeon's requirements:

Had a sleep study, psych consult, upper GI and blood, EKG. Had to get a letter from my primary care physician that said I was healthy enough for the surgery.

I have BCBS of GA. Overall, yes they do cover lap band. You have to make sure your company does not have an exclusion in your policy though. Call your HR rep. and ask about it.
