where did the restriction go?

I have 5cc's in a 10cc band. I had good restriction for about 2weeks now I can eat much more than I should be again. Why did I lose restriction? I know it can't be the fat around my band because I have only lost 2 pounds since my last fill. Is this normal?

It probably is loss of fat around your stomach that caused the band to get looser. The scale does not tell all...it doesn't take much fat melting to make the band loose.

Eventually the fat around your organs will be gone and this should stop happening. How many fills have you had? Does your doctor check your Fluid level during fills to make sure there are no leaks?

You may also have lost some of the swelling inside your band - your stomach tissues swell in reaction to the squeezing, but eventually the swelling goes down. For me, it takes about two weeks after each fill for the swelling to go away. My NP said I'd probably need to get slightly over-tight (but only a little!) and then after the post-fill swelling went down, I'd be in a good spot, and she was right. As of my 4th fill, I was too tight - I could still eat, but I PB'ed a LOT - but now, 3.5 weeks out from that fill, I'm great; I can eat pretty much anything I want but only about 3/4 cup of it.

Thanks for responding everyone. It does make sense. I get my third fill on Monday so hopefully that will do the trick.

I haven't pb'd but I do hiccup if I eat too fast. I haven't slimed yet either. I just can't wait til I start to consistently start losing weight. How much per week do you all usually lose? Do you exercise?
