Urgent - How do I stop losing weight?

Hi all,

This may sound silly, but it's not meant to be. I had my lap band almost a year ago and I've lost a humungous amount of weight - great. The best thing is that I've changed my lifestyle in terms of eating, exercise, activity etc and it feels very natural now. I like who I am and feel the benefits all the time.

I've now come to the point where I don't want to lose any more weight. But's it's not easy to switch from a weight loss mentality to something else. I've been used to NSVs and scales telling me how successful I've been and now it seems I'm saying goodbye to that.

I guess it means I should eat more, but I really don't want to because I don't feel the need to. I don't want to eat for the sake of it - that's what got me into trouble in the first place.

I'd appreciate any insight you may have. Thanks.

Been there! I met goal and kept loosing. When I got to ten pounds under my goal I went in for an unfill.

Luckily it has held for the past 10 months! I remain the same weight day in and day out, week after week. I do fluctuate between 137 and 142 but I'm so happy with that!

My nut suggests adding healthy items [back] into your diet, a little at a time.

ie: Cook with olive oil instead of cooking spray. Add a few nuts or some cheese to a salad or sandwich. Add some fruit or veggie into a meal like Breakfast or as a snack.

Maintenance really is the hardest part.

Maybe you should visit a nutritionist, with your food log and they could make some suggestions?

Either increase your intake or get a slight unfill for maintenance purposes. Sometimes just adding a couple of hundred calories in the form of fruit or other healthy snack is enough to keep you in maintenance mode.

i had gotten as low at 116lbs when my dr told me i needed to gain weight. i added more nuts & cheese to the diet and took my skim milk to 2%. seems to have done the trick - back to floating around 123-127 which i consider my maintenance.
