stretched pouch

I went for a fill today and was told that my pouch has stretched a little. They showed me the difference from the first flouro and todays. I am so upset with myself. They said that I had to start measuring my food. I asked if that will fix it. She said that it can help that my pouch isn't that far gone. They want to see me in four weeks and see and discuss it then. But that it should be fine. The other alternative was 2 mnths of liquid diet. My thinking is that if liquid diet can help I should be doing that now why wait. I am so upset. I'm scared, can anyone else advise me on there experience with this. Outside of the normal should I be worried.

I am out 2 1/2 years.

They noticed my pouch had stretched during my last fill. When I went in last week, I had a slip. I've always heard stretched pouches are a precursor to a slip.

I should have known as I was eating only soft foods and had heartburn at night. I think I was too tight too long.

I have 2 more weeks to see if I can be refilled.

So, do what they say!

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the same problem. My doctor called it a pouch dilation. I was told it was from being too tight for too long. I kept feeling like I needed a fill, so I would go and get one and then two months later I would get night regurgitation , night reflux and coughing when laying down. I would go for an unfill and then I repeated the fill/unfill senerio about two more times before I realized that I needed to just quit getting fills. The last time I went for an unfill they did a barium swallow and there was complete blockage so I was completely unfilled for a month. I went in after a month for a fill which was this past Monday and I am still dilated and swollen. I wasn't following the rules while I was unfilled. I just thought that since I wasn't filled I could just take it easy and eat what I wanted as long as I didn't over do it. Big mistake!!!!!!!! I gained 7 pounds and my pouch did not get much better. Now I have to wait another 4 weeks and I have to measure my meals to have 6 1/2 cup meals a day. I hope that my pouch is not to far gone to where I will have to have surgery to correct it, but if so, it is my fault. I am listening this time and doing what I am told, I just hope that it isn't too late. It is also awesome being unfilled during the holidays. My fault though. :)
