If you are 5'3, I would most definitely wait till you've lost more weight. You still have quite a high BMI, which does put you at higher risk just for that simple fact.

I'm 5'4" and got pregnant at 234. I would have liked to lose more first, but I didn't want to wait any longer to start having children. Hopefully I'll be at my goal-weight before my next one. I had a very good pregnancy except for some blood pressure issues (not necessarily weight related). I'd definitely do it again!

As for the band, I did end up getting unfilled a tiny bit in the beginning, and all the way unfilled towards the end. I didn't have any morning sickness, but I did get very very tight for whatever reason. I felt better about it just in case I did have a c-section. Plus, I was on IV fluids the entire time I was in the hospital.

I lost the 25lbs I gained in the two weeks following delivery. I popped up a few since then (but I can admit I've been eating like crap). I just got my first fill yesterday, so I'm officially back on my journey.

To answer your other question, I can't see why one couldn't have whey Protein during pregnancy.

I'm 5'6" and I got pregnant at 204 lbs. I'm almost 22 weeks and haven't had any complications due to weight.

I did have a complication with my band, though, during my pregnancy. I kept my fill until about 2 weeks ago. I was unable to keep any food down, so I finally went in for an unfill. My doctor was also concerned that I wasn't putting on any weight. When I went in, they couldn't get the needle in, so they told me to let the other doctor in the office try the next day by going in the emergency room that morning. I did so, and he had no luck either.

They concluded that I had a flipped port. As this was day 3 with no food or anything to drink (I DID get to see 199, though!), they decided to do surgery to redo my port and unfill my band.

Because of another disease I have, they couldn't give me anesthesia (sp?), so I was awake for the whole procedure. WEIRDEST thing I've ever gone through in my life!

Fortunately, all is good now. I am gaining weight (probalby TOO quickly!), and the baby is fine.

So far, that is the only complication I've had from the band. I haven't had any complications due to weight.

Hope that helps and good luck!!

If you were banded in June, then your current weight is really obsolete. You should wait 12 months minimum before conceiving, unless your surgeon has indicated otherwise (most require at least 12 months, some 24 - 36).

Your BMI is 33.3. Mine was ~31 when I got pregnant. Though I'm about 5'11 so I was obviously not your weight or I'd have been at goal. I would have liked to have lost more first, but I had the age thing competing with the scale. I did talk with my physician before making the decision to TTC and made sure I understand potential complications and most importantly to me, had her "consent".

I don't understand what "i am going in for a pregnancy because of the other complications which i have" means. I get that you have some kind of complication, but I have no idea what you're saying with the first part of that statement. Can you clarify?

how many of you went and had a baby at my current weight and how many of u delivered safely without complications

Have not delivered yet. There's not too much I can think of with the delivery process that would be a direct result of weight, other than things like stamina, availability/placement of IV and pain relief options, etc. I think the weight will me more of an issue with pregnancy complications such as diabetes, hypertension, edema, etc.

what happens to band during pregnancy and has anyone resumed their weight loss journey after the band ..

The band stays, pregnancy is not a contraindication to being banded. I would imagine that every bandster out there has resumed their journey as soon as weightloss became an advisable endeavor.

what if one has to have a cs

Assuming you mean cesarean section, then one has it. Again, the band is not a contraindication.

cant a lot of morning sickness give rise to a slipped band

Vomiting has the possibility to lead to a prolapse. I would imagine most surgeons would advise being unfilled if morning sickness is an issue. Not everyone has morning sickness.

anyone had any complication with band during pregnancy which led to some surgery

Nope.

can one have whey Proteins during pregnancy

Sure, if they're tolerated. Whey Protein isn't a new thing. As long as pregnant mothers have been drinking milk, they've been eating whey Protein.< /span>

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
