Extremely painful fill attempt:

I went in for my fourth fill today. The third fill was painful but successful and so it has taken me awhile to go back in. I have lost 12 pounds since the last fill which I am thrilled with but am able to eat more than I should be and it is time for another fill.

Well, after several insertions and pulling out the needle with no success of hitting the port the doctor laid me down on a table and after several more insertions and pulling out the needle, there was an extremely painful stinging sensation and I "screamed" with tears rolling. Needless to say, no fill today and right now I am in pain from the multiple injections.

Has anyone had similar situations with a fill?

For some reason this happens to me every single time I go to get a fill. My port has moved about 6 inches away from where the Dr says that it usually is and now sits almost right above my hip. It is really hard to find and it is really frustrating for me to deal with everytime that I go. I keep asking the Dr why it is like that and his only response it that sometimes that happens and no one knows why. I know how you feel on this one. Just hang in there.

I go through this every single time, i've had 3 fills so far and I get poked at least 5-6 times...BUT...she puts on numbing medication first. So it doesn't hurt at the time, but I am sore and bruised afterwards which is a little better than dealing with every painful poke. Ask you doctor to give you number medication next time before your fill.
