I am just starting my process. I have an appt with the nutritionist tomorrow. Does anyone have Blue Cross in PA. If so can you give me any info. I am just worried that I will have some problems.

I started the whole process in March 08 and now I'm scheduled for surgery on Oct 14. I have Highmark PPO Blue in PA. I had absolutely no problems with them. Got approved the first time around and am so ready to do this.

My best friend has blue cross of PA and they approved her surgery right away, no problems. And she wasn't all that overweight, and has no comorbidities.

I live in Alabama but have Highmark BCBS through U.S. Steel. The precertification request was sent in on Oct. 3rd and was approved on Oct 6th. My surgery is set for November 17th. As long as you follow the requirements of the insurance company you should have no problems.

What are the requirements?

You must have a BMI of 35-41 and/or 100 lbs over weight. Must comply with all of the appoinments and have had problems over 5yrs.
