Acid Reflux???

Before I see my physician, I was wondering if anyone who has been banded has or has had acid reflux, particularly before the surgery. If so, how did this effect the lap band procedure, or if it did at all? I have acid reflux and am tired of it! I'm hoping the lap band will help. THanks!

I had severe gastric reflux before surgery. My surgeon told me the banding would cure me and so far he's been right. I haven't taken any medicine for reflux since surgery and have had no reflux. I've been banded a little over 4 weeks.

I have not had surgery yet, but during pre-tests (I had an upper endoscopy) they discovered I had a severe Hiatal Hernia which explains my severe GERD and resulting esophagitis. I was told they would repair the hernia at the same time that the band is placed and that should cure it. I forget what its like not to have reflux or take medication. I am looking forward to it.
