Can you actually choke?

Hey all. Okay, I'm newly banded (5/20). I've had a couple of instances where I have eaten something and it feels like it is stuck in my throat. It doesn't hurt where I think it should ... like lower toward the stomach. Am I wrong? Is this where it is supposed to hurt (sounded weird, didn't it)? And I was just asked by the hubby ... can you choke? I don't know the answer.

Just think about where the band was placed...2-3" below where the esophagus and stomach join, so yes it's very high up. But we don't breathe through the digestive tract, so unless you actually inhale stuff instead of swallowing it, nope, won't get stuck in your trachea and cause choking. 2 different pipes at that point...

I have this pain too, usually in the morning but not only then. I think I got it figured out that it happens if I eat too fast and maybe don't chew enough. I know it isn't that I am eating too much becuase it often happens on the first few bites. Once I had it throughout the entire meal and like a fool, I kept eating and can you guess what happened? Yep, that's right, I puked.
