night acid reflux

Recommended Posts

I had a fill two weeks ago and I am having no problems during the day. About 4:00 am I am waking up either choking for a moment or with acid reflux. I tried sleeping on a higher pillow and that helps a bit. It does not matter whether I sleep on my side, back, or tummy. I also stop eating and drinking by 7:30. Any suggestions.

I'm not going to be banded until tomorrow, but I believe this is a common problem. I know my surgeon's office has told me that acid reflux can get worse with the band. I would call the doctor and see if there is a good medication you can take to relieve this. Since you're not eating after about 730pm I'd say it's probably not anything you're doing wrong just the way your body reacts. Good luck and keep us posted!

I have suffered from dreadful acid reflux for years and LIVE on nexium!..Sleeping with your head elevated does help & so does not eating late.....that is when it will "GET U"!.......I take 1 nexium every AM when I brush my teeth! Ask your Doc! Hope it gets better

I have had it occasionally. It seems to be brought on if I eat or drink something just before bed . . . so I try to avoid doing this. You have already cut out eating after 7:30 so that should help some.

This could also be a warning sign of being too tight. You should give your doctor a call to let them know what is happening.

I take a Prevacid in the morning and will go up to twice a day and see if it helps. I have been on Prevacid for a number of years and the reflux was gone. Any other suggestions?

Calling your doctor is my advice. If you are too tight, a small unfill will make all the difference in the world.

Abby, I promise NOTHING has worked (& I've tried most of them), like Nexium............it also claims to 'heal" the erosions in your esaphagous (sp?)....One other thing....sounds nasty but in a tiny glass put a Tablespoon of baking soda and 1/2 Water in the TINY glass....stir well and shoot it down.........You WILL burp the big man burp and feel much better! IF you can do this w/ band???????... my surg. is not 'til Sept..............

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
