Please - what does restriction feel like?

Recommended Posts

I was banded July27th. Have had 2 fills - I just now have trouble swallowing sometimes if I don't chew enough or take big bites - then it hurts and feels like a bowling ball going down, but it goes down.

So I am going for fill #3 next week - what the heck am I looking to feel? Will I fill like it is sitting stuck on the top of the band and uncomfortable? If the area above the band is full, won't the stomach below still be grumbling? Confused about what to look for..............

I agree, I was banded on the 29th and my first fill isn't till the 28th of this month. I would suppose that your already feeling your "fills". :)

Hi, I just had my second fill, with my first I did feel like I had enough restriction, if things got caught though because I didn't chew enough I felt it. Now I think I might have too much restriction, I had a tough time getting cottage cheese down this morning. I am giving it a few days. I was banded on may 22 and this is my second fill, my first was on July 3. I didn't think you were supposed to have fills until your stomach healed.

I was banded onApril 21st and have had 3 fills so far. I'm suppose to go back for another fill in a few weeks and I'm not sure I should. I have a total of 5 1/2 cc in my 8cc band and I have some restriction at times when I'm eating, depending on what I'm eating. I have to be very careful when eating and make sure I chew very well or I can feel the food having problems going thru. There is times that I have to just stop eating whatever I'm eating cuz it's having difficulty going down.

I'm having great weight loss right now, but want it to continue.....sooo should I go in for another .5 fill in a couple weeks or not??????

I was banded on May 31st and just had my second fill last week. I am up to 4 cc in my 10cc band. The doctors office told me most people feel restricted between 4 and 6 cc. It sounds like you are feeling the restrictions. If I eat too fast or the wrong thing I feel it. I am looser at night and cannot eat as much in the early part of the day. You may want to take a break from fills, let your tummy heal and adjust and see how you do with what you have. Remember it is a tool to help you eat less.

Yeah.....I'm thinking more and more of not getting another fill just yet.

I have to be very careful of what and how I'm eating, even then I can feel it having difficulty going thru. I'll play it by ear for the next 2 weeks before making up my mind, but I'm leaning towards not getting another fill even tho it would be only a .5cc fill I think it would really put me in a tight spot. I'd hate to have to drive back down to SSF from Sac. to get an unfill.

Thanks for answering me and giving me your input.

Hi Noahsmomm, You didn't say how much weight you've lost. It seems the doctors go by that. If you've lost an average of 1-2lbs a week then you are okay if not then it is time for a fill. It sounds like your doctor is very aggressive. Most doctors only give fills once a month after the first 6 weeks of healing. It sounds like you are feeling what you are supposed to be feeling. I was banded June 23rd and have had one fill of 3.4 in a 10 band. I have not lost a single pound. I am trying like crazy not to get discouraged but last night my partner told me this was all a waste of time, money and emotional energy. Yikes!!! I am going in for another fill today at 2:15 so wish me luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
