Salt cravings

Does anyone know what causes salt and ice cravings. I am having a terrible time with this and it certainly doesn't help with swelling.:confused2: I could /have literaly lick the salt off a bag of sea salt and vinegar chips!

This comes and goes with me. As long as your blood pressure is OK, I'd just ride it out ofr a while.

Before I was banded I didn't care for salt. I would eat it when it was on food that was fine.. But I didn't crave it or go outta my way to get it.

Now I have the weirdest craving... I take a large grapefruit and could probably put 1/2 a salt shaker on it... Thats how bad it is lol. I gave in 2 times to it and noticed that I swelled like a balloon and didn't lose weight for a week after that so I don't let the salt win anymore. I just figure my bodies changing and adapting... it should fade.

I thought It was just me. Ever since surgery I crave salty foods and salt my foods. I have never been one to crave salt and now I do. HMMMM????? Yes, you are right. It does make you swell. Summer heat does not help either.

I have noticed I crave salt the day after I exercise a lot (more than 3 hours of cardio). My trainer says it has to do with electrolyte imbalance from sweating, I have been adding 1 oz of gatorade to every 8oz I drink on my running days. I just started this so I will let you know if it works.
