Hi all,

After you had your surgery and were home safe and sound, what type of pain medication did your doctor give you? My surgery is scheduled for Aug. 27 (Yippee!!) and I am trying to make sure I have all of my ducks in a row. I am assuming that the prescription is written as a liquid form?

Also, is there a place on this forum that gives recommendations for things I should have at home post surgery (I have heard a heating pad, etc).

We have the same surgery date - one year apart. Good luck!!

I was given Vicodin - pill form. I never needed it though. Liquid Tylenol was all I needed once I got home. I had almost no pain, just a little port tenderness. I kept an ice pack on my port area for the first week and I think that helped a lot.

PS. I did take Tylenol PM for the first few nights. I'm a stomach sleeper and couldn't do so for about 5 days, so getting comfy at night was a little rough.

Oh thanks 80's chick! Good info. Went today to Fremont to speak with the doctor, he really tried to discourage me from having the band and trying to talk me into the R N Y. He just didn't have any good things to say which scared me. I'm glad to hear the fills aren't a big deal. He was trying to tell me that I could have them as much as once a month and they hurt.
