Hi All!

I just found this board today. I have my first appt with my surgeon today. Has anyone ever used Dr Jacome in Hudson, NY?

Thanks! You guys are the greatest!

Hi Honey!

Well, I'm afraid that after my appt yesterday, I'm nowhere on the journey! It was my first meeting and after everything was done and I was a great candidate for lapband, he told me that he MAY not be able to do my surgery because he might not have ins for bariatric surgery then! This doesn't affect you, but I was mighty annoyed. They could have at least told me ahead of time and saved me the drive! Sooooo, since I really didn't like the way this "relationship" started, I'm going to make the longer drive and use Dr Kwon. I have my appt for 6/15.

Welcome Honey!!! (That was almost my name when I was born!)..I just got banded on May 5th. I have all ready lost 30 pounds...My face looks better, my clothes are fitting better...and I am excited to get to my goal weight. I figure about in one year from now. Thats okay. I am on the "mushie" foods....and am looking forward to getting onto normal food. All in good time.

Congratulations on your surgery date. Where is Dr Jacome from? Which hospital are you having surgery at?

Talk to you soon

He's a general surgeon, and he doesn't want to specialize in Bariatrics. As I understand him, because he doesn't specialize in it, then the coverage he currently has is in jeopardy, but just for the bariatrics.

Barbara

SO this has nothing to do with the banding? Sorry I don't mean to be dumb I'm just concerned now that I have come this far.

No, it does have to do with banding, which is part of bariatrics, but as of right now he can do the procedures. I guess this is just for patients who might be 2-3 months out in the future. You are okay for your 6/1 date. Good luck and let us know how everything goes!

Barbara

Thank you. I am having surgery at Columbia Memorial. I wish you luck with your next docotr. I agree that Dr. Jacome should have told you all that BEFORE you made the appointment. Where do you live in NY?

Barb,

I am soooo happy that you are going to use Dr Kwon, As from porclndoll there is alot of peeps on here that use him, I am almost done with all my pre-op appts! He is wonderful! Porclndoll i saw @ our last support meeting with the pysch and she looks wonderful for just being out of surgery..Good Luck :( keep us posted!

Kristen,

That is so great that you are getting close to the "prize", so to speak! How long did it take to get to this point, from your first appt?

Barbara

Hey!

I had my first seminar with dr kwons office 4/28/2005. I have had alot of appts between then and now But the remaining appts->I have my upper GI, fasting blood work and dietician on 5/31/2005. 6/8/2005 i have my endoscopy..and then i don't have my sleep test til 6/25/2005. So not that long..If i was able to get my sleep test sooner i probably could be done faster. So depending on what u have to do, and how far the appts are set apart i would say time frame of 1-3 months?

Kristen

I have a general question pertaining to our food.....Does anyone/everyone out there measure their food?? I have been eyeballing it...eatting my protein first, and then veggies second. I would estimate that i am taking in about 8 ounces combined. Are we supose to be counting how much we take in, traking our diets?? Like journal it??? Are we supose to be counting calories/fat/carbs/protein? I haven't been doing a food journal at all...was wondering what everyone else was doing when it comes to this..

Thanks for your input

When I was early in my post op phase, I measured EVERYTHING! I might have even been a little fanatical about it. However, it really taught me what correct portions look like. That has really stuck with me over the last year.

Personally, I think measuring is a good strategy for the first several months. It keeps us honest :)

Hugs,
