I am one of those people who cannot handle scrambled eggs, with or without good restriction. I finally have some decent restriction now (WHOO HOO!). I was just wondering how deviled eggs would be.

For those of you that can't handle scrambled eggs, can you eat deviled eggs okay? Do they go down better/worse/the same?

I would just make some and try it out but my family doesn't like them and I don't want to go through the trouble of making them if I can't eat them because they would go to waste.

At times I can eat scrambled eggs or fried and other times I can't. I can eat deviled eggs at times and other times I can't. I just try a little, if it goes down good then I eat it, but if it even tries to stick I stop.

I have trouble eating scrambled eggs also. No matter how much restriction I have, scrambled eggs just stay in my stomach pretty much half a day and makes me miserable. Deviled eggs on the other hand I have absolutely no problem with. I have never PB'd on them and they have never gotten stuck. The best way to tell is just to try them. There are days when I can eat certain things and other days I try to eat the same thing and cant. My band is very temperamental but I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Deviled eggs work great for me. I think it is the mustard and a dab of mayonaise (a little diced pickle and paprika are also added) that keeps them from getting stuck. I don't like yolks in plain boiled eggs because they don't travel through the pouch as well.

The best thing about them is that you can make only 1 or 2 eggs worth and it is no big deal. No one else in the family will eat them and I don't like them to be more than one day old. Other than boiling the eggs, prep time is less than five minutes so big batches are a waste for me.

Scrambled eggs disagree with me, but I have found that omelets are easy and wonderful. I usually put cheese inside and sometimes add a little green pepper and onion. They are high in Protein, fast to prepare and easy on the pouch. Definitely a win-win food in a pinch.

Hae you discussed with your doctors why scrambled eggs to do go down very easily? What about boiled eggs? :wub:

It woud seem that devilled eggs might be too greasy.

Deviled eggs are not greasy at all when I make them (but it is one of those things that everyone makes a little differently). Because no one eats them at my house other than me, I make them exactly as I want them.

I have 2 times as much mustard as compared to low-fat Mayonnaise. Mustard is perfectly healthy and is essentially a "free-food." A small dab of low-fat mayonnaise is not going to make a big difference. A whole pickle has 5 calories, so 1/10th of a pickle is not going to make a difference. Paprika is just for taste and color. Eggs are packed with Protein and are healthy in moderation as well. All-in-all it is a win-win food choice.

Scrambled eggs tend to stick together in a clump in your pouch due to the texture. If you have a funnel and drop scrambled eggs in, you will find that little actually passes through without a little push. The texture of a yolk in a boiled egg has a clumping thick nature as well. Have you ever eaten just an egg yolk before and noticed how it sticks in your teeth and is hard to swallow? It is the same thing in your pouch.

All-in-all I think deviled eggs are great for bandsters, even those with good restriction. :thumbup:

I don't know why scrambled eggs are so hard to go down for me. I guess it's just one of the foods that is not going to agree with my band.

I made deviled eggs and some egg salad the other day and both went down fine. I think everyone knows I love the Tostito's brand spinach dip. Well, I used it instead of mayo in my deviled eggs and egg salad and it was very good. It's less calories than mayo and is just as creamy, plus it adds more flavor.

My deviled eggs aren't greasy either. I don't think I've ever had greasy deviled eggs, lol.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share that on the days that I am going for a fill, I make sure and make some egg salad, have cottage cheese on hand. I also fix up some instant Garlic mashed potatoes. I eat these three things for a couple of days until I am ready to move onto solids.

The egg salad and Cottage cheese have the Protein I need for those days.

I always make sure I chew and chew and chew. eggs are soft and give you a false feeling that the are ready to be swallowed even if you only chewed on 'em a few times. If I don't pulverize them.. they get stuck big time.:biggrin:

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
