Hello, as few know, I am only 19 and getting this surgery done. Well I just found out about my day...AND IT IS NEXT WEEK!!!!!! AHHHH. My surgery day is July 9th at 11am. Talk about nerves!!!! Any advice on just how to start preparing for this will help me greatly since I am so young and getting this done!

Hello Josh,

When I was in the hospital I was roommates with 19 year old. She was very nervous and scared also. After surgery, we would walk up and down the hallway (in pain but did what the doctors said). We had surgery on 3/17 and she is now down over 50 pounds. She works out everyday (started over 350 pounds) and enjoys life. Just remember you are important and this is for your future - you will do well. Just follow the program and you are on your way. Best!

Good luck Josh. I wish I had this done when I was 19! My advise would be to make sure you have all of your liquids in the house so that you dont have to worry about going out to the store to buy them after surgery. I made sure I stocked up on sugar free jello, crystal light, sugar free ice pops and chicken broth. your doctor may give you other items but you get the idea. another good thing to have on hand is a heating pad. it helps with the shoulder pain from the gas. aside from that just try to relax and make sure you are getting a little walking in after surgery to help with the gas pains.
