Question

Hi, I am just wondering about something. When you get a fill, at first you can't eat much and then I can eat alot and need another fill. What happens? Does the stomach streach? I was just wondering! thanks

Hi Scottygirl, when you get a fill it restricts youre food intake, as time passes and weight is lost you will find that you are able to eat more and the weight loss slows down that is usually a sign that you may need another fill. I have had 3 fills in 13 months and have lost 91 lbs, each fill I seem to lose 20 -30 lbs before I need another fill. Iam trying like crazy to get to my goal weight without another fill. Everyone is different with their restriction levels, also one thing to take into consideration, if you get your fills done by a U.S. doctor they are usually less agressive and fill more on the conservative side then the docs in Mexico. I hope this helps to answer your question somewhat :)

Regarding fills, has anyone had the taste of saline after getting a fill. I had my fill end of March and I can't remember if this was prefill of not, but sometimes It tastes like I am swallowing salty stuff. I am also wondering if it is a sinus issue/allergy thing. Has anyone experienced this.

Thanks

Very common.

It's common for a little bit of the fill to evaporate over time.

It's common for you initially to be tighter because of swelling from just getting the fill.

As you lose weight, the fat pad around your stomach also shrinks making more of a fill necessary because the band isn't as tight on your stomach. Note: this doesn't happen when you lose 1 or 2 pounds -- it can take 20-30 pounds to make this happen.

I've heard of fills kicking in 1-2 weeks later, but that hasn't been my experience. My experience has been that I am a little tighter the first few days after a fill, then it relaxes -- I think this is due to the initial swelling.
