Five days out

I'm five days out and still really sore. Is that normal? Yesterday I didn't feel good, but didn't hurt near as bad as today. I was just having pain by my port but today it's all the way across my stomach. I have been getting myself up, which I know uses lots of muscles and I sneezed this morning which hurt like heck. I know I'm not getting all the protein I need, but I am so over shakes...I'm probably getting more like 30-40 grams a day instead of 60. I am drinking lots of water though. Any suggestions anyone has would be appreciated...I'm just ready to feel better!!

Just hang in there! IT will get better. Try to do the protein shakes at least once a day! You should be able to add soups and stuff. Try that! I am still sore in the port area and some days I feel like s#*t, but keep going. I used Isopure and The Whey bullets for protein. Now I get plenty of protein in my food.

Like I said just hang in there. It does get better!

Thanks Cathy! I really appreciate the encouragment. It just sucks that I was trying to transition to just tylenol and the pain is too bad and I am back taking percoset (sp?) a couple of times. I felt like I was moving backwards, not forwards.

I am supposed to be on Carnation Instant Breakfast and clear liquids (broth, jello, etc) until Wednesday. I can't wait to have some mashed potatoes or scrambled eggs!! I'm not one to each artificially sweetened stuff, and so trying to eat it has been difficult. I've read some stuff on hear about the protein bullets...do they have that protein after taste?? I read where someone just poured it over ice and ate it and really enjoyed it. If I could find something like that, life would probably be a tad bit easier  Thanks again for all of your help, all of your posts on this board are so encouraging!!

Here are a few suggestions. Try the Muscle milk and put it with either milk or water and lots of ice in a blender. That is good.

Also the protein bullets are ok, but be forewarned they do have the aftertaste. I just hold my nose and drink it down! As fast as I can!

I had some tomato soup and it really helps. Use water and it is still good.

Good luck, when you get to add mushies and then real food it gets better and better.

I am worried now thht I eat too much. I think I am about ready for a fill.

Keep in touch!

Thanks Cathy! I feel so much better today. It's amazing the difference in yesterday and today. I get to start mushies on Wednesday and I can not wait! I never thought I'd be so excited about cream of wheat and mashed potatoes  I know I still need to get my protein in with the mushies, so I'm wondering if I still need to drink shakes (gosh I hope not :crying:). Thanks again for your help!
