My sister and I both had surgery on April 25 in Mexico. Yesterday she started having drainage from the incision at the port (see Drainage by Janet Holst). Today, after seeing her doctor and after having a cat scan, found out that she has cellulitis in the port and will need surgery. She hasn't talked to the surgeon so isn't sure exactly what they will do at surgery. Anyone had this happen?

Is the surgeon that looked at it a band surgeon? Most of the time they don't understand what is going on with the band. I would get a second opinion about the surgery. My incisions all drained. Not unsual. I had to have a port revision surgery but that was because my port tilted. You don't want someone messing with the band or port unless they have experience with it. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the reply.........In doing a little internet research, it looks like cellulitus is a bacterial infection. I'm wondering if maybe the surgery will be to put in a drainage tube or something like that. Hopefully she'll know more soon and will let us all know.

oh dear! My DH would get terrible cellulitus before he got his band! I sure hope it is NOT cellulitus!

Not anything to mess around with. Have her call a band dr right away!
