Insurance Help

Hi I am trying to find out which Insurance is best to go with in California. I was informed that my insurance (Aetna HMO) does not cover the procedure so I am looking into getting a new policy. Can anyone help me? Blue Shield, Blue Cross, Health Net, Pacificare?

I have Aetna & I was recently approved, and already got my band done last week. You should be able to use your current insurance. ~Janea

Did you have to do a 6 month medically supervised diet or have 6 months worth of documentation? Was yours an HMO or PPO? What state do you live in?

I have Anthem BC/BS of California. No problems at all. Approved the same day it was submitted. I had done all of my prelimary stuff with Cigna and they required everything. My employee changed insurance on January 1st and my surgery was scheduled for February. They have been great. My surgery cost me less than $500 total.

I have Aetna HMO and I am scheduled to be banded on May 29th. Aetna was a breeze compared to other insurance companies.

If you BMI is between 35-40 w/ a comorbodity (sp) than its no problem.

Or your BMI is just 40 alone.

They only require a 2 year weight history now. Good Luck and keep searching the forums because there is a forum for Aetna approval on here.
