This may sound crazy!!

Okay, so I will be getting banded in exactly 9 days, May 2nd, and I'm scared out of my mind, but not of the surgery itself. I'm actually scared of being THIN!! I've been overweight since I was a small child, I don't know anyother body, any other way of life; I've only dreamed of being thin, but never actually thought it would ever happen for REAL. So as ironic as it may sound, I'm just scared of being THIN!! Has anyone else encountered such a feeling, or am I just plain weird?

Hey cutie...I'm so sure that fear will turn into excitment! I wish I could say I wasn't scared of the actual operation , you are great! I would focus on taking care of yourself pre and post op before you get overwhelmed in these realities!

This is sad to say, but I more than completely understand. I lost a large amount of weight in high school and was molested/violated right after - so I now associate fat with safety (I have since regained the weight and more). I have a very loving and supportive husband and my life is much different (person not in my life anymore and I am in therapy) - but, I am also afraid of being thin.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be sad sounding - but, I get what you are talking about and wanted to share my feelings. You are not alone and we will get better!

Go May Flowers!

I'm sorry that happened to you. I have deal very closely with rape/molestation in myself, friends and family. You are great for still pursuing this though, and addressing those issues!
