Seeking a battle buddy...

Hi all..I was banded a couple of weeks ago and am struggling quite a bit..

I am fighting believing lies...I know that God gave this to me as a tool...

I just have so much self doubt and feelings of guilt. (Guilty that I couldn't let go of my sin and required surgical intervention).

I really want God to be glorified in this and allow Him to use this in my life.

I am also still in a fair amount of pain (at the port site)- I read so many other experiences and thought I would be feeling really good by now...

so, yes I am a bit discouraged about that too...

I would love to find another Christian to share this journey with that I can pray with and for...

Peace, Erika

Huge HUGS Carey!!!

I pray that God's peace will come over you as you prepare for your surgery. This band has been one of the biggest blessings I have received. My whole life has changed!!

God Bless you!

Gen (wombat)

PS - MissVicki - you have such a way with words. You are most definitely a blessing on here!

Thanks Wombat, you and everyone on here are such blessings. Again God and His amazing way of bringing His children together!!

Yes He does, Miss Vickie!!!

I'm 6 days post-op and last night was the first time i was able to sleep without the inside tummy soreness!! God is continuing to give me the strength to do this clear liq diet. I still get gas pains (esp at night) but today I feel the best. I go Thursday for my post-op visit. I get my 10 staples out-YEA!! and also get to start on my 2wk full liq diet. My DH has been a great supporter thru all of this. So have my children. Oh, and my scales said 236 morning of surgery, today they say 226!!! To God I give the glory!! Thank you, Miss Vickie for asking about me!

I had my first fill this Monday and I feel nothing...I am trying to eat the 3-4oz protein and then be done, but I am still SO hungry..

I am going to call my dr today and see how soon I can get my second fill!!!

Blessings to you both!!

Miss Vicki!! I didn't realize you lived in Beaverton!! I live close to McMinnville!! What a small world this is..who did you surgery??

Hi Erika! I feel really great today. I had my staples removed yesterday so no more stinging and itching. I'm really feeling back on tract. I'm on 2nd day of my 2wks of full liqs...still not much appetite so I know I'll need more strength from our Lord when it hits me. My DH is dying to go out and eat somewhere. It's been a while. He'll name a few places then renig when he remembers my FL diet for now. I told him I honestly wouldn't mind going, that I could handle it. Txs again for asking about me. I tried the Special K protein water yesterday. The tea flavor is dry to the mouth. St/kiwi is good. It has 5gms protein. Plus I had 2 cups of FF milk, 8gms each. That' helps curve appetite during meals.

Hi wombat712! I'm also a TX girl who lives in McKinney.

I'm so encouraged to find this thread. I was banded in March, and I feel like I'm doing very well. But, I struggled with the decision to do this for a few years. I actually had a surgery date two years ago but backed out b/c my insurance wasn't going to cover it and I felt like God was telling me it was too big of a rish to take without insurance. Looking back on it, I really believe I wasn't ready for it and God knew that. This time I was ready and God paved the way for me. I was approved in less than 2 weeks. So far, everything has gone well. Like many, I had more pain post-op than I anticipated. We all need tools to help us accomplish things. In my book, the sin is not taking advantage of the tools God gives us. I'm saying a prayer right now for all of you tonight!

OH MY GOSH, Carey, that Bible verse, 1 Corinth 10:13 was AWESOME! EYE OPENING! INSPIRING!!! I'm going to write it down and memorize it and just meditate on it. Thank you so much for that! PRAISE GOD!

I was banded exactly one week ago today and am down about 13.5 lbs. CRAZY!!! I had thoughts that maybe this isn't the way GOd wanted it done, but it was such smooth sailing from beginning to end, that it HAD to be a God thing. I was ready to go about 6 weeks from the initial consult. I am struggling with moodiness (doesn't help that I'm due for a 'visitor' this week) but "...with God, all things are possible"

Good luck to you.

Andrea, congrats-you're doing GREAT! I luv 1 cor 10:13 as well. It is very inspirational, esp when I face criticism or negativity from people.

And about the moodiness...I too still struggle with that even after 2mos. I can't relate it to my monthly so I assume it's related to the pressure I'm under. But I'll be honest, when I look at my physical activity/exercising, I can see an improvement when I don't slack on that. I live in hot-humid SC so I also find taking a 2mile walk late in evening helps me sleep better. I need that to face my kids the next morning!!

Thanks for the encouragement, Brenda. I'm feeling frustrated right now. I don't know if this is right, but I really, REALLY feel hungry - like I could eat anything. I had a salmon filet last night and it was like 4 oz that i ate (it was all mushy). I didn't feel sick or full afterwards and felt like I could have had more. That's what I feel like I'm struggling with. Is that normal?

I always get that bottomless pit week of my due "visitor". But that's not always the reason for hunger! I fight it at other times too. What helps me is to get 60-90gms of protein in each day. Since I luv milk, I'll have a glass with a scoop of whey protein. And for mind control, I often have to remind myself that my new stomach pouch is only the size of an egg. That usually scares me to not overeat to strech it out. And honestly, the more you get into an exercise rotine AND steadily lose weight, your hunger will cut back.
