Not losing weight

I had my lap band surgery in October 2005. I initially lost 28 lbs. I have had seven fills since 2005 but I now weigh what I weighed before the surgery. I have cut back to about 1500 calories a day.

I can feel more restriction right after a new fill but in a couple of weeks I don't notice the restriced feeling anymore. Has anyone experienced a similiar situation?

Thanks

JB

I am wondering if you have a leak or a defective band. Have you approached this with your doctor yet? It seems to me that the doc should be concerned with this too. I am fairly new at all of this b

When they give you a new fill, do they check that the amount of saline they added before is still there? How much does your band hold and how much is in it now?

You might need to drop down to 1200 cals a day. You didn't say how much you weigh now or whether you are exercising. I find I lose best when I'm eating between 1000-1200 cals per day and getting in 1/2 hr of exercise 3x a week which is minimal... eventually I'll have to up the # of days, the time and the intensity.

Other people lose fine on 1500 cals a day + exercise.

What you are eating might matter too, in the end, but I wouldn't get that nitpicky up front. i.e. aiming for a certain balance of protein/fat/carbs, like 40/30/30.

You must be frustrated. :huh2: I hope you find some answers!

You should approach your doctor. Make them check your band and if Doctor is resistant to do so find another Doctor. The Doctor should care enough about your success to have already done this. You have been banded for alomost 2.5 years you should have hit your sweet spot by now.

I hear you sister I am in the very same position June 14 I will be 3 year out and I still am back to my old weight. My fills are exactly as you describe. I don't even have any anymore because what for they don't work for me. I am so disappointed.
