I searched for info on this, but couldnt find anything. I am 3 weeks post op- when can i start swimming? I am afraid that the water may infect my incisions.

i was told 6-8 weeks by my doc

Pretty much as soon as your incisions are 'dry' and healed over. I started back after 3 weeks.

no bath for 4-6 week so I am guessing swimming is the same contact your Doctors to make sure it has a lot to do with what time of stiches you have or glue

Unless you're in open water infection shouldn't be too much concern in the pool (heavy chlorine), but you will want to be careful outside & right around it. I was advised to wait 6 weeks before swimming for exercise, and 4 for leisure.

thanks, folks, i figured it would be 6 weeks. I am not sure I trust my doctor (story for a different thread) so I wanted to hear what you all thought.
